Local History and Theatre
The first written records of Těškovice date back to 1377. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was built in 1863 in the Neo-Gothic style. These two dates mark different historical reference points: 1377 is the earliest written record of the town, while 1863 is the year the church was built.
The traditional theatre festival “Těškovické jaro” presents plays by ensembles from the surrounding area and further afield. Individual programmes are tied to specific dates; check the event dates if you would like to plan to attend a performance. The Berani amateur theatre ensemble has been continuously devoted to amateur theatre since 1949, performs at amateur theatre competitions and co-organises the theatre showcase “Těškovické jaro”.
A notice from 2026 describes the uphill cycling time trial organised by TJ Sokol Těškovice as a traditional event and refers to its 34th edition; the event date announced there has already passed.
