Neverin: Local history and relaxation at Haussee
Accommodation in Neverin
Neverin offers several things to enjoy during a stay: historic buildings, the local KTO leisure centre and BĂĽrgerpark around Haussee. The water tower is protected as an industrial monument; the park on Haussee in the centre of town invites visitors to linger, stroll, relax and play.
Granary, church and water tower
The granary and church are among the buildings that bear witness to Neverin’s historic development. The water tower is now protected as an industrial monument. During an extensive renovation, sturdy metal-grating stairways were installed, making it accessible for the first time. An information board dedicated to the tower’s 100th anniversary gives visitors key details about its history. In Bürgerpark, another board by the old knight’s oak provides information about the former motte-and-bailey castle. The spot now known as “Liebesinsel” was once its site.
BĂĽrgerpark, leisure and events
Bürgerpark stretches around Haussee, which lies in the centre of town. Visitors can stroll, linger, relax and play there. KTO is Neverin’s local leisure centre and offers sports and recreational activities; it can be hired for events and seminars. A bicycle rest area with seating has been set up at the sports ground by KTO. You can stop there even if you are not travelling by bicycle. If you are choosing between a visit to the park and sports or event-related activities, these are different options available locally.
In agreement with the municipality, Neveriner Dorfclub KTO e.V. plays a major role in the town’s cultural life and contributes to community life with its activities and events. In 2025, the third garden walk with a plant swap was held; it was also open to people who did not belong to a village club.
More nature and culture in the Mecklenburg Lake District
The wider travel destination of the Mecklenburg Lake District offers more ways to experience nature. The Müritz National Park is characterised by forests, wetlands, lakes and expansive meadows. The Müritz National Park hiking trail reveals the park’s landscape in nine stages: it passes lakes, winds through ancient forests, goes by inland dunes and leads to the source of the Havel. Certified nature and landscape guides offer informative tours in the national park, including guided visits to the UNESCO World Heritage beech forest in Serrahn and tours from the water.
The Damerower Werder bison reserve is located on a peninsula in Lake Kölpin in the Mecklenburg Lake District and Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide Nature Park. Visitors can observe animals there; the forest adventure trail features climbing opportunities, an anthill house, an exhibition with touch-and-see panels and a dendrophone. Cultural attractions also add their own distinctive character to the Mecklenburg Lake District: AGRONEUM Alt Schwerin is an open-air museum with a history of more than 60 years. In Mirow Palace Park, you can stroll along the lakeshore, through baroque avenues and to Liebesinsel. The Rechlin Aviation Technology Museum is located in Rechlin Nord.
