Landscape and Location

Woggersin lies directly on the western edge of the Tollense Valley. Fields lie to the north, south and west of the village; to the east, the Tollense lowlands begin, with several old, water-filled peat pits. The built-up area borders the DE 2245-302 “Tollense Valley with Tributaries” Special Area of Conservation directly.

Snowdrop Park in February and March

Snowdrop Park is a seasonal highlight in Woggersin. In February and March, a white carpet of flowers covers the entire park; this protected park is home to an unusually large population of snowdrops. It is also a listed monument and a botanical treasure. Flowering, protected status and heritage designation bring natural and cultural history together in one place. If you plan to visit the park for its blooms, schedule your trip for February or March.

Church and Architectural History

The half-timbered church in Woggersin is a listed monument. Its altar dates from around 1788 and is in the late Baroque style. The church is defined by its half-timbered construction, while the altar is notable for its stylistic classification. In the middle of the village stands another listed monument: a building constructed around 1850 as a stable and storehouse. The altar from around 1788 and the storehouse from around 1850 represent different historical points of reference: a church furnishing and a building designed to serve as a stable and storehouse.

Walking Trails and Local Amenities

Woggersin has walking trails to and from Neubrandenburg. This adds a pedestrian connection to the sights of the park, landscape and listed buildings. The trails offer a different focus from the snowdrop blooms: they connect with Neubrandenburg, while the park highlights February and March. It is a good idea to check the current condition of the trails before setting out.

The farm shop in Woggersin offers a selection of regional products. This adds a local shopping option to the area’s natural and heritage attractions. If regional products are part of your travel plans, the farm shop is another specific feature of the village.

More Nature Highlights in the Mecklenburg Lake District

The wider Mecklenburg Lake District travel region is also home to Müritz National Park, with its forests, bogs, lakes and broad meadows. Its hiking trail explores this landscape in nine stages, passing lakes, winding through ancient forests, going by inland dunes and reaching the source of the Havel. Certified nature and landscape guides offer informative tours there, including walks in the Serrahn beech forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and tours from the water. This means a nine-stage hiking route and guided nature tours offer two different ways to explore the area.

The Damerower Werder Bison Reserve is also part of the wider Mecklenburg Lake District travel region. It is located on a peninsula in Lake Kölpin and in Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heath Nature Park. Visitors can observe bison there. The reserve also has a forest adventure trail with climbing opportunities, an anthill house, an exhibition with tactile and visual panels, and a dendrophone. From Neustrelitz city harbor, waterway travelers can explore Müritz National Park and the Strelitz Small Lakes District via the Upper Havel Waterway. The Rechlin Aviation Technical Museum is also located in Rechlin Nord.
