Amt Neverin: Trails, Landscape and Culture
Accommodation in Amt Neverin
Amt Neverin comprises twelve municipalities. To choose a destination within the administrative area, it helps to focus on specific themes: trails and landscape, architectural history, or cultural sites. This can help you decide what you would like your stay to revolve around, before looking for hotels in Amt Neverin.
Landscape and trails
The landscape of Woggersin is shaped by Lake Neverin and the two Hausseen lakes. Woggersin lies directly on the western edge of the Tollense Valley, about 6 km northwest of Neubrandenburg. The Tollense lowlands stretch east of the village, with several old, water-filled peat pits; fields lie to the north, south and west.
There are hiking trails to and from Neubrandenburg in Woggersin. From Wulkenzin, various forest trails lead to the western shore of Lake Tollensesee, about 2 km away. The lakeside places of Buchort, Gatsch Eck and Alt-Meiershof are territorially part of the municipality of Wulkenzin. These place names indicate different points of reference for exploring the trails and landscape.
A specific cycling route is also described: a cycle path leads from Neverin through Rossow and onward towards Brunn, as far as the motorway. This means there are several named starting points in the administrative area: Woggersin and Wulkenzin for hiking trails, and Neverin for the described cycle path.
Architectural history and cultural sites
The water tower in Neverin was built in 1919 by the estate owner Jasper von Behr-Negendank. The listed manor house in Staven dates from the late 18th century and was frequently remodelled up to the mid-19th century. The two buildings connect place names with different historical periods.
The altar in Woggersin church dates from the time the church was built, around 1788, and is in the late Late Baroque style. Woggersin is also home to the Kulturspeicher, a historic event venue and cultural hub. The building was constructed around 1850 and originally used as a granary and stable. Today, it hosts concerts, markets and a variety of cultural events.
The Kulturspeicher also has a farm shop featuring selected regional products. At the pottery in Woggersin, visitors can learn pottery-making in Christine Schmidt’s workshop. The two offerings have different focuses: one highlights regional products, while the other offers hands-on craft learning.
In Beseritz, too, architectural history is linked to cultural events: the former manor house and the park behind it provide a backdrop for various cultural events throughout the year. The examples from Staven, Woggersin and Beseritz offer insights into the area’s diverse historical and cultural themes.
Neubrandenburg as a wider travel destination
Neubrandenburg lies on Lake Tollensesee in the Mecklenburg Lake District. The 40-kilometre GRÜNE RUNDE links the city’s recreation areas and passes through landscapes and natural areas close to the city. For cyclists, Neubrandenburg is an important stop on the Elbe-Oderhaff Cycle Route from Lüneburg to the Baltic Sea. The Ice Age Route of the “Mecklenburg Ice Age Landscape” Geopark also runs through Neubrandenburg, with axial cross-connections.
