A palace in the Brâncovenesc style, monasteries with sacred art, and an automobile collection featuring models from 1899 to the present day: Ilfov combines cultural attractions with a variety of leisure activities. Gardens and museums sit alongside thermal waters, climbing courses and a wave pool. When planning your trip, you can first consider which themes you would like to shape your stay.

Palaces, Monasteries and History

Mogoșoaia Palace was completed in the Brâncovenesc style by Constantin Brâncoveanu by 1702. Visitors can see permanent and seasonal exhibitions and stroll through rose, lily and iris gardens. This brings together the palace’s architectural history, exhibitions and gardens. The seasonal exhibitions offer a different focus from the permanent ones.

The monasteries also offer different cultural perspectives. Cernica Monastery is considered a spiritual place as well as a historical monument of culture and ancient art. Pasărea Monastery includes the Holy Trinity Church, with its silver-plated icons from the 18th century, and the Church of the Assumption of Mary. For those interested in sacred art, the church architecture and icons offer different points of interest.

Căldărușani Monastery is situated on a peninsula extending into Lake Căldărușani and is surrounded by Vlăsia Forest. The museum complex comprises three museums: a collection of books, liturgical vestments and icons, a treasury, and an art gallery. Romanian and foreign tourists visit the museum complex every year. The setting and collections together shape the character of this place. Fort 13 Jilava offers another historical perspective: it served both as a prison and as a transfer centre.

Collections and Special Perspectives

The Țiriac Collection brings together all seven Phantom models, from Series I to VII. It also displays more than 300 automobiles from a collection of approximately 400 vehicles and motorcycles, with models dating from 1899 to the present day. The range therefore spans from early vehicles to contemporary models. As the size of the collection and the items on display may change, check visitor information before planning your visit.

Visits to the Țiriac Collection are available for a fee from Monday through Wednesday. Private tours are offered in English or Romanian for individuals and companies. Check the latest visitor information before booking. This allows you to fit this collection into your itinerary alongside the visiting days.

Thermal Waters and Active Leisure

Therme București uses thermal water rich in mineral salts such as copper, zinc, selenium, calcium and magnesium. The facility has three distinct areas and dozens of attractions. This offers a different focus from palaces, monasteries and collections: here, the emphasis is on water and a variety of leisure areas.

Edenland Park has 16 treetop climbing courses of varying difficulty for children and adults. At Eden Ranch in Edenland, riding opportunities are offered for beginners and experienced riders, with authorised instructors. The climbing courses are differentiated by difficulty; the riding activities are explicitly intended for both beginners and experienced riders. Check availability before your trip.

The wave pool at Divertiland Water Park offers six different types of waves. Foam parties, competitions and concerts are also held there. As the programme and seasonal activities may vary, check the event dates for your travel period.

You can then take visiting days, availability and seasonal dates into account when planning your trip.
