Balotești: Therme, Edenland and local history
Accommodation in Balotești
Balotești offers several distinct themes to consider when planning your trip: the water and beach areas of Therme București, the treetop courses at Edenland, and local history and landscape. If you are looking for a hotel here, the focus of your trip can help you choose a destination. The area’s features range from individual attractions to the wider landscape of the commune.
Therme București: Water, sand and themed areas
Therme București is located on the DN1 national road in Balotești, just outside Bucharest. Check the directions and route before you set out. The thermal water in The Palm Main Pool is 33 °C; the pool area also has a pool bar, a whirlpool and hydromassage beds.
Sands of Therme Beach offers a different experience: it covers 30,000 square metres of fine sand and includes a tropical pool, a beach club and a burger station. The focus at The Palm Main Pool, by contrast, is the 33 °C thermal water and the pool facilities listed above. Pangea Park adds another theme with a 3,800-square-metre green puzzle inspired by the formation of the Earth. Water, sand and an area inspired by Earth’s history offer different points of comparison when you explore the Therme areas.
Edenland and leisure activities
Edenland Park is located at Strada Cantonului No. 12 in Balotești; confirm the directions before you travel. It offers 16 treetop courses of varying difficulty for children and adults. The number of courses and their varying difficulty levels give you concrete points to consider when deciding whether this activity is right for your travel group. Check the current information about the courses before your visit.
Eden Ranch has a 4,200-square-metre outdoor riding arena. This measurement describes the facility in a different way from the number and difficulty levels of the treetop courses: it indicates the size of the outdoor riding arena.
Church and monument in Balotești
The parish church of Balotești was built in 1763 by Zamfirache and Elena in honour of Saint Nicholas, Saint Theodore Tyron and Saint Stelian.
The Balotești monument was erected after the 1989 Revolution. Its inscription commemorates local heroes from 1916–1919 and 1941–1945, as well as December 1989. It consists of two prismatic red-granite structures and bears a granite cross. The year the parish church was built and its dedication provide a different historical reference point from the three periods commemorated by the monument.
Landscape and waters of the commune
The commune of Balotești lies in the southern part of the Vlăsia Plain, also known as the Bucharest Plain. The Vlăsia Valley has abundant moisture-loving vegetation in undeveloped sections. The plain and the valley therefore represent different aspects of the landscape: the commune’s location and the vegetation in undeveloped parts of the valley.
In the commune, bodies of water and reed beds cover a combined area of 184 hectares and have contributed to the development of angling tourism. If fishing is of interest to you, check access arrangements in advance.
