Dimieni can be described through several archaeological locations and its parish church. The archaeological settlements are located to the northwest, south, and east of the village. A description published in 2021 also lists the village as part of a longer SSP cycling route. The roads and railway mentioned in each description are important points of reference for geographic orientation.

Archaeological Sites and Their Locations

Two differently identified sites lie northwest of the village. The archaeological site of Dimieni is located 1.50 km west of the Tunari–Balotești road, at the extreme northwest of the commune, near the border with the UAT of Otopeni and 150 m south of the railway line. The La Tène settlement of Dimieni is also northwest of the village. It too is located 1.50 km west of the Tunari–Balotești road, but is situated 1.2 km south of the railway line and lies at the extreme northwest of Tunari commune. Comparing the distances from the railway—150 m and 1.2 km—helps distinguish between the two location descriptions. The same distance from the road does not mean the exact reference location is the same; the distance from the railway is also part of each description.

South of the village is the Geto-Dacian settlement, 50 m west of the DJ road from Tunari to Dimieni. It is located on a ridge cut through by a drainage ditch for CA2. A different point of reference is provided by the Bronze Age settlement: it lies at the eastern edge of the village, in the direction of Dascălu commune, and 2,000 m east of the Tunari–Balotești road. The sites described are thus spread across the northwest, south, and eastern edge of Dimieni. It is important for orientation to distinguish between the roads: the southern settlement is described in relation to the DJ road from Tunari to Dimieni, while the descriptions of the northwestern and eastern sites refer to the Tunari–Balotești road. The terrain description also pertains to the Geto-Dacian settlement; for the Bronze Age settlement, the village edge and the direction of Dascălu are the reference points.

Parish Church and Local Cultural History

The parish church of Dimieni is dedicated to Saint Dimitrie Basarabov. A local report from 2019 describes how the church was extensively beautified over a long period. A local cultural report from 2019 also mentions a sacred garment displayed in a place of honor in the village church. The dedication identifies the parish church’s religious association; the reported beautification work and the garment provide further aspects of the area’s cultural history.

Dimieni on the SSP Cycling Route

A description of the SSP cycling route published in 2021 runs from Bucharest via Dimieni, Căciulata, Moara Vlăsiei, Lipia, Merii Petchii, Moara Vlăsiei, Dascălu, and Tunari, before returning to Bucharest. Dimieni thus appears in a longer sequence of named places. This regional context differs from the archaeological location descriptions, which distinguish the sites by their position relative to the village, roads, and railway. The route description notes that some conditions may have changed. If you use the route for planning, check the current route information.
