In Hollabrunn, themed trails meet the city’s archaeological and historical past, alongside cycling routes through the Weinviertel. The Kellerkatzenweg runs through a Hollabrunn wine cellar lane, the City Museum focuses on the history of the region, and the Rivaner Wine Cycle Route starts in the town. When planning a stay, you can choose from a range of activities: a themed trail, a museum visit or a tour connecting several places.

Themed trails and cycling routes

The themed trail “In the Footsteps of the Kellerkatze” runs through the Sitzendorf wine cellar lane in Hollabrunn. It is around 4 km long and has 25 stations. Its approximate length and number of stations offer two concrete points of reference for planning; the stations also divide the route into individual themed stops.

The Rivaner Wine Cycle Route, which starts in Hollabrunn, offers a different kind of route. It passes through Grabern and Sitzendorf an der Schmida, continues through Heldenberg and Ziersdorf, then via Breitenwaida and Raschala back to Hollabrunn. While the Kellerkatzenweg is confined to a single wine cellar lane, Rivaner connects several named places and returns to its starting point.

The “Radln & Betn” cycle route combines the gentle landscape of the Weinviertel with special cultural and spiritual stops. This gives it a further thematic focus: landscape and cultural or spiritual destinations take centre stage together.

City history and historic sites

The Hollabrunn City Museum “Alte Hofmühle” is a regional museum with an archaeological and historical focus. Its permanent exhibitions include “The Wild East”, “Hollabrunn in the Middle Ages” and “City History”. The “New Archaeology” exhibition also takes visitors from a Neanderthal hand axe through circular ditch enclosures to the Celts of the region. The museum therefore highlights both Hollabrunn’s city history and archaeological subjects from the region.

Outside the town, on Steinfeldgasse, lies the Jewish Cemetery of Hollabrunn, an important historic monument. A total of 214 people were buried there between 1881 and 1978. Guided tours are offered regularly; check dates and availability before visiting.

Walking and activities for children

The Koliskowarte is accessible via two hiking trails in Hollabrunn. From the starting point at the Hubertus monument, it takes about 30 minutes to reach. This approximate time refers to the stated starting point and can help you fit this leg into your day’s plans.

There is also a double children’s paddling pool with a mini waterslide. If the municipal pool is on your itinerary, check the current opening hours in advance.
