When planning your stay in Hollabrunn, you can choose from a range of highlights: two circular routes, a viewing tower in the Kirchenwald forest, and cultural and historical attractions centered around the church, Hofmühle mill, and town museum. The attractions differ not only in theme, but also in the route lengths and visitor conditions described.

Circular routes with different highlights

The Hollabrunn Forest Adventure Trail is a circular route about 4.4 km long, with interactive and multisensory stations. It is aimed at schoolchildren of various age groups and families. If you are interested in a route with changing sensory experiences and hands-on stations, this thematic focus is a helpful guide.

The Kellerkatzenweg is also a circular route and, at 4.15 km, is a similar length. It passes through the Sitzendorf cellar lane in Hollabrunn and the surrounding natural area. At 24 stations, the trail explores the cellar lane experience and its development in an urban setting. This allows you to distinguish between the two circular routes by their themes: the Forest Adventure Trail focuses on interactive and multisensory stations, while the Kellerkatzenweg focuses on the cellar lane and its development.

Views in Hollabrunn’s Kirchenwald Forest

The Koliskowarte is a viewing tower in Hollabrunn’s Kirchenwald forest. From there, the unobstructed panoramic view extends as far as Schneeberg and Ötscher. The tower offers a different focus from the stations along the two circular routes: here, the emphasis is on the distant view.

The Koliskowarte is easily accessible in about 30 minutes via two Hollabrunn hiking trails, starting at the Hubertusdenkmal monument. This is an approximate time; trail conditions can affect access. If you plan this outing, take local trail conditions into account.

Town history and buildings

Hollabrunn Parish Church was built in the 12th century and contains many Neo-Gothic elements. The Alte Hofmühle mill is among the oldest and most interesting buildings in the town of Hollabrunn and is used in a variety of ways as an event venue. Each offers a different perspective: the church for its long history and Neo-Gothic character, and the Hofmühle for its place among the town’s buildings and its present-day use.

A permanent exhibition at the Hollabrunn Town Museum describes the town’s political, ecclesiastical, economic, social, and cultural development. In addition, the Habaner collection includes 33 ceramic pieces from workshops and independent artisans of the 17th and early 18th centuries. The pieces come primarily from western Slovakia. If you are interested in the town’s history, you can combine an overview of various aspects of its development with a specific collection covering the history of crafts and ceramics.

Experiences and practical planning

At Cattis Keller, children can try out three traditional cellar-work techniques. For families, this is a hands-on activity in addition to the stations on the Forest Adventure Trail. The cellar lane experience also includes four experience stations in cellars. Entry is with a chip card, which you can obtain at check-in for a €5 deposit.

ÖBB offers free parking at Hollabrunn station at Bahnhofplatz 8, Lastenstraße 3, and Anton-Ehrenfriedstraße. As station facilities may change, check the details with ÖBB before your trip.
