The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary dominates Kšice’s village green. Alongside this prominent landmark, archaeological features and two cycling routes are central to planning a trip. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Kšice, you can first decide whether architecture, archaeological periods or cycling will shape your stay. Bus and train travel can also be factored into your journey planning; check current timetables in advance.

Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on the village green

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is listed as a protected cultural monument and is a Baroque building. Its position on the village green makes it a prominent landmark in the local landscape. This brings both its architectural form and its protected status into focus: two different points of interest in the same building. If you would like to see the interior, check in advance whether it is open to visitors.

Burial mound sites: date, size and location

Čertův kámen is a protected, well-preserved Hallstatt-period burial mound site with a clearly visible, regularly defined outline. It comprises 63 large and small burial mounds. A considerable part of the site is covered by dense pine forest, 15 to 20 years old; a clear-cut strip runs through its southwestern part. The forest road connecting Záchlumí and Kšice serves as a geographic reference point: the burial mound site lies to its south.

Na Žalostném is a protected, as-yet-undated burial mound site in the forest between Cebiv, Záchlumí and Kšice. It comprises four to six burial mounds, some of which are still clearly visible. Its date therefore remains uncertain, whereas Čertův kámen is assigned to the Hallstatt period.

Stélka is a protected burial mound site dating to the Late Bronze Age, with an archaeological continuity of 200 to 250 years stated for it. Covering an area of approximately 350 by 100 metres, it comprises 42 burial mounds. Some of them are low and inconspicuous.

The three descriptions can be distinguished primarily by date and size: Stélka is assigned to the Late Bronze Age, Čertův kámen to the Hallstatt period, while Na Žalostném has not yet been dated. The size figures also use different measures: 42 burial mounds across an area of approximately 350 by 100 metres at Stélka, 63 large and small mounds at Čertův kámen, and four to six at Na Žalostném. Visibility also varies: some mounds at Na Žalostném are clearly visible, while some at Stélka are low and inconspicuous.

Plan cycling routes and your journey

The circular cycling route “K vodě dvakrát přes Hadovku” passes through Kšice and Lomnička. The cycling route “Stříbro a Kladrubská katedrála” also passes through both places. The first is described as a circular cycling route, while the second is described as a cycling route. Before cycling, check the local road surfaces and signposting.

Buses serve Kšice; there is a stop in the centre of the village. Rail connections are available on line 177, with a station in Lomnička. From there, services run towards Plzeň and Bezdružice. The bus stop in central Kšice and the station in Lomnička are therefore different reference points for your journey. Check current timetables before planning your trip.

When choosing a hotel in Kšice, you can consider your journey and the activities you want to enjoy together: the village green provides a reference point for the church, the archaeological descriptions differ in location and date, and both of the cycling routes mentioned pass through Kšice and Lomnička. Which of these topics is most important for your stay depends on your own travel plans.
