In Černošín, several interests come together when planning a trip: the history of St. George's Church, Volfštejn Castle and Kosí potok Nature Park. These destinations offer different points of focus. You can therefore consider in advance whether architectural history, a specific route, or nature and landscape will shape your stay.

Church and Castle

St. George's Church was first mentioned in 1374. The present-day Baroque building stands in the center of Černošín and was built between 1711 and 1736. The early mention and the construction period of the present-day building refer to different historical points of reference. Those interested in religious architecture and local history will find a specific point of interest right in the town center.

Volfštejn Castle was founded in the second half of the 13th century on a spur of Vlčí hora near Černošín. The access path leads from Černošín along the eastern rampart, runs south around the castle and continues to the former manor farm. From there, you can climb to the summit of Vlčí hora. The route description therefore covers not only the way to the castle, but also its continuation to the farm and the summit. Path conditions may change; check them before setting out.

Landscape and Routes

Kosí potok Nature Park extends partly across the municipal area of Černošín. It protects biological and landscape values in a gorge-like valley of the stream. The Kosí potok educational trail is eight kilometers long and provides information about the nature and history of this valley. It thus offers two perspectives on the landscape: its nature and its history.

Černošínský bor is a protected relict pine stand on the route from the football field in Černošín to Volfštejn Castle. If you include this route, observe the local access rules. Unlike the educational trail, the focus here is on a specific protected pine stand, while the trail covers the nature and history of the valley.

The yellow hiking trail No. 6603 passes by Vlčí hora, the ruins of Volfštejn Castle and through Černošín. It therefore names several landmarks for orientation. The route description for the castle, by contrast, describes the path directly alongside the castle grounds and its continuation to the former manor farm. The two descriptions thus answer different questions about route choices, and need not be treated as describing the same route.

The monument to the victims of the First World War is about two kilometers from the town center and can be reached via an unpaved forest track. Unlike centrally located St. George's Church, the condition of the access track is a practical consideration here. Forestry conditions may change; check the route before your visit.

The educational trail and the monument therefore have different features to consider: for the trail, the stated details are its eight-kilometer length and its focus on nature and the valley's history; for the monument, the key points are its approximate distance from the center and the unpaved access. Depending on whether you are looking for a themed educational walk or a historic memorial site, these details offer different guidance for planning your trip.
