Třemešné – Hiking Trails and Village History
Accommodation in Třemešné
For travelers looking for a hotel in Třemešné, the area offers several points of interest: marked hiking trails, a cycling route, woodland scenery and traces of village history. The routes vary in length, markings and course. In addition to the trails, the topography around Kamenný vrch and the layout of the village green also shape the character of the place.
Hiking and Cycling Routes by Length and Course
The Třemešné–Diana–Třemešné cycling route is about 30.5 km long. The green-marked Třemešné–Přimda–Staré Sedliště hiking route covers 21 km and runs through the forest between Třemešné and Přimda. This offers a longer cycling route and a shorter hiking route, each with its own course. The distances help with an initial comparison, but should be considered alongside the type of route. Check route conditions before setting out.
Two educational trails add to the options. The Milíře educational trail is about 15.5 km long and connects to the blue-marked hiking trail, which leads back to Třemešné. The Vodní mlýny educational trail is shorter, at about 11.5 km. It runs parallel to the blue-marked hiking trail as far as Svatá Apolena, then turns via the road to Málkov and follows the Bezděkovský potok stream back to Třemešné. For comparison, both distance and return route matter: Milíře follows the blue-marked hiking trail, while Vodní mlýny goes via Málkov and along the stream.
Landscape Around Kamenný vrch
Třemešné lies in a wooded landscape along the Domažlice–Tachov railway line. Kamenný vrch is 2 km southwest of the village and rises to 738 m. Its summit is flat and dotted with rocky outcrops; views are limited. The direction and distance locate the hill in relation to the village, while the rocky outcrops and views describe the character of its summit.
Below the summit, about halfway down the slope, are old charcoal-burning sites. These are prepared areas where charcoal was produced. They connect the wooded landscape with an earlier use of the hillside and add charcoal production to the description of the topography.
Village Green and Traces of History
Třemešné was a Chod village laid out around an irregular rectangular village green. A notable farmstead stands on the green between the inn and the railway station; a gallery has been built above its entrance. This brings together the village’s historic layout and a specific architectural detail in one place.
The exposed foundations and floor are reminders of the former Chapel of Panny Marie. The chapel’s outline has been made visible to tourists and casual visitors. At the farmstead, the gallery above the entrance is the focal point; at the chapel, it is the foundations, floor and marked outline. Together, the two sites reveal different traces of the village’s history: an architectural detail at the farmstead and a reminder of the former chapel’s ground plan.
