Kozmice
Accommodation in Kozmice
Visitors considering Kozmice as a destination will find a variety of attractions: protected buildings and local history, religious art, the Hlučínská pahorkatina uplands, and a recreation area by Hlučínské jezero. The historical landmarks date from different centuries. The lakeshore area offers a distinct recreational attraction in the southern part of the cadastral area. This means you can explore Kozmice through both its architectural history and its landscape.
Landscape and location
Kozmice lies around one of the more prominent elevations of the Hlučínská pahorkatina. Kozmický vrch is the highest point south of the municipality. This makes it a distinct landmark in the uplands. Hlučínské jezero adds a second focal point in the southern part of the cadastral area. The hills and the lakeshore represent different aspects of the local surroundings: the prominent elevation on the one hand and the waterfront on the other.
Buildings and local history
Among the protected architectural landmarks is a barn and its perimeter wall, dating from the late 19th century. Both the barn and the wall are protected monuments. Kolečkův mlýn represents a different period: the watermill was built in 1845. A small hydroelectric power plant has been in operation there since 1997. Two uses from different periods thus meet at the mill site—the building’s original use as a watermill and its later use as a power plant. The dates help place the mill’s construction and the later power plant operation in context. The barn is notable for its protected architectural structure, while the mill illustrates a sequence of different uses.
Church and wayside shrine
The parish church, dedicated to Saint Florian, was solemnly consecrated on October 18, 1936. It contains an image of the Holy Family from the first half of the 19th century, which was transferred to the church of the same dedication. The image thus predates the consecration of the parish church; the artwork and the church’s consecration belong to different periods. In Horní konec, the Boží muka are also known as Švédská kaple. They are a copy of a roadside wayside shrine. The original stood beside the former Jägerhaus guardhouse; this connection describes the original’s former location.
Recreation at Hlučínské jezero
An existing recreation area by Hlučínské jezero lies at the southern edge of the Kozmice cadastral area. It expands the existing Hlučín sports and leisure complex and also extends into the neighboring Hlučín cadastral area. In the part of the lakeside area assigned to Kozmice, visitors can relax on grassy shores and take part in sports activities in the boathouse and on the existing sports grounds. The area’s layout links the Kozmice section with neighboring Hlučín; the leisure options mentioned are specifically in the part of the lake assigned to Kozmice. Visitors deciding between relaxing by the shore and taking part in sports will find both types of leisure activity in this area. Some seasonal facilities may change, so check the latest information before your trip.
