Kravaře combines a Baroque castle with an extensive park, as well as cultural, sports and leisure activities. If you are looking for a hotel in Kravaře, first consider what you want to focus on during your stay: castle architecture and history, the park landscape, or leisure activities such as the aquapark and golf.

Baroque Castle and Chapel

The Baroque Zámek Kravaře is a two-storey building with four wings and a rectangular courtyard. The castle also has an octagonal chapel with a high dome. It is dedicated to the Archangel Michael and built in the Baroque style. Its very high dome is supported by pillars. The overall form of the building and the chapel’s distinctive architecture thus stand side by side at the castle.

At the Zámecké muzeum, the permanent exhibition traces the different stages in the development of the Baroque castle. Its content may change. When planning your trip, the castle’s architecture and the exhibition offer different points of focus: the architectural details give you an immediate impression of the complex, while the exhibition focuses on the castle’s development.

Castle Park and Church Art

The Eichendorff family laid out the castle park in the second half of the 18th century. Today it covers 21 hectares and is home to almost 100 varieties of deciduous and coniferous trees. Streams, ponds and romantic corners of the park are also among its features. If you are interested in the history of the area, you can relate the history of the castle’s construction to the creation of the park; the trees and waterways also offer a different perspective on the grounds.

Kostel sv. Bartoloměje church offers another historical thread. Its white Renaissance tower dates from the first third of the 16th century. Inside the tower is a stone baptismal font from the same period. The Renaissance tower differs stylistically from the Baroque castle and its chapel. Kravaře therefore has buildings from different periods side by side, without a precise construction year being needed to place them in time.

The more than 100-year-old Kravařský odpust is the patronal feast of the local parish church of St. Bartholomew. It is always held around the Sunday closest to 24 August. If you would like to plan your trip around the feast, check the exact event dates and programme in advance.

Aquapark, Wellness and Golf

Městský aquapark Kravaře offers a current channel and a 65-metre-long water slide. Facilities also include a Finnish sauna, a steam sauna and a whirlpool. This brings water attractions and a range of sauna and relaxation options together in one place. Operating details and availability may change; if you are planning your stay around them, check the latest information in advance.

Zámecký golf club Kravaře has a nine-hole golf course among mature trees in the castle park. The club offers the public golf lessons, a pro shop, club hire and golf course rental. It also hosts private tournaments. Unlike at the aquapark, the course and golf activities are the main focus here. As public offerings may change, it is advisable to check the latest information before making specific plans.

Another Landscape Connection

The Odkryv National Nature Reserve lies near Kravaře in a former open-pit mine and covers 1.6 hectares. Its location and origins differ from those of the castle park: the park was laid out in the 18th century, while Odkryv is a protected area in a former open-pit mine. If you are putting the town’s landscape features into context, comparing them offers a look at two distinct local histories without suggesting that they share the same origins.
