Church and Local History
The first written mention of Bolatice dates from 1250. It appears in a letter from Pope Innocent IV, issued in Lyon on 18 December 1250, which transferred the area to the Cistercian monastery in Velehrad. St. Stanislaus Church was built in 1703 and expanded to its present form in 1911–1912.
The parish church also preserves relics of St. Stanislaus. They were given to the church from Kraków in 2024 and are kept in a reliquary in the left side aisle. The Odpust, the church’s patronal feast, is celebrated each year on the Sunday after the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. If you would like to plan your trip around it, check the date for the relevant year.
Open-Air Museum and Exhibitions

Visitors can see traditional living spaces, a laundry room, a horse stable, a cowshed, and a granary. Craft tools, agricultural machinery, and household appliances offer further insights into domestic life and work.
The experimental archaeology exhibition offers further perspectives on the past. Its archaeological section displays artefacts found in Bolatice. In the experimental section, visitors learn how people lived in prehistoric times and what they needed to survive. The exhibition contains no replicas; its content was developed through experimentation. Bolatice’s permanent exhibition of glacial erratics is also visited by the general public and schools.
Circular Trail, Cycling Route and Landscape
The educational trail in Chuchelenský les is a 6 km circular route that starts and ends in Borová, a district of Bolatice. Information boards cover animals, plants, and trees. There are several rest stops along the route; the Zbojnička stream rises at one of them. The route’s length, circular layout, and signposted topics provide a clear framework for the outing.
Another option for a cycling trip is the 29 km Route 554, Prajzská cesta, which runs from Kravaře to Šilheřovice and passes through Bolatice. Check the route locally before setting off. The dry flood reservoirs are also among Bolatice’s notable landscape features. Their technical design, integration into the landscape, and local fauna and flora are of particular interest.
