Hlubočec: Forest Landscape, Hůrka and Chapel
Accommodation in Hlubočec
If you are looking for a hotel in Hlubočec, you can choose where to stay based on your interests: the area is known for its fields, forest and Hůrka; it also has a marked hiking trail, a named cycle route, the Chapel of St. John Paul and the Sportovní areál. The landscape, local history and sports facilities offer different ways to enjoy a stay. You can weigh up which of these matter for your trip based on their specific local features.
Landscape around Hlubočec
Cultivated fields and extensive forest complexes of the Nízký Jeseník surround Hlubočec. Hůrka, at 530 metres, lies north of the village. The hill is topped by a mobile phone and television transmitter and forms a distinctive landmark in the landscape. Streams rise below Hůrka and flow through wooded valleys. The area around Hlubočec is part of the “Přírodní park Moravice” Nature Park. The landscape around the village is shaped by open farmland as well as forest, hills and valleys.
Hiking Trail and Cycle Route
The green-marked hiking trail leads into the Setina valley by the chapel. It passes Honův mlýn and its pond, then descends to a paved road to Hlubočec. Check the local signposting when you arrive if you plan to follow the trail.
The 15-kilometre cycle route No. 6141, “Údolím Raduňky,” runs between Hradec nad Moravicí, the area near Skřipov, Hlubočec and Pustá Polom. For hiking, the green markings and stops provide orientation; for the cycle route, there is also a number, name, length and set of places along the way. The specific reference points therefore differ when choosing between the hiking and cycling routes.
Chapel and Festival History
The Chapel of St. John Paul is designated in Hlubočec as a monument and a site of local significance. It was built on the site of a wooden chapel. In 2013, Hlubočec celebrated the 120th anniversary of its consecration. These two historical reference points have different roles: the wooden chapel was its predecessor, while 2013 marks the celebration of the consecration anniversary.
On 6 September 2025, during the Dožínkové slavnosti, a procession of agricultural and fire service vehicles to the local Sportovní areál followed a Mass at the chapel. The programme included traditional crafts, entertainment for children, brass band and dulcimer music; in the evening, there was a dance. That day, the schedule connected the chapel and the Sportovní areál through the Mass, procession and subsequent programme.
Sportovní areál
At the Sportovní areál in Hlubočec, you can rent a building with an equipped kitchen and basic tableware for up to 30 people. The complex also has covered outdoor seating, changing rooms and sanitary facilities. Facilities available for hire include a tennis and nohejbal court with artificial turf, a grass playing field and a fire service sports track. When planning, you can consider renting the building and the individual sports facilities separately: the capacity of up to 30 people applies to the building; the courts and track offer different sporting options.
