Nové Sedlice – Hiking, Cycling and Local History
Accommodation in Nové Sedlice
Nové Sedlice offers several specific points of interest for planning a trip: marked hiking trails, cycling routes, historic municipal buildings and a named bus line. There is also Areál Soudržnosti, which serves as a place for everyday recreation and includes a football pitch. The landscape, outdoor activities, local history and transport links give your stay a variety of focal points.
Between the Ridge and the Lowland
The southern part of Nové Sedlice lies at the foot of the Polomská vrchovina ridge; to the northwest, the municipality borders the Poopava Lowland. The two landscape features therefore extend in different directions: the ridge lies to the south, while the lowland is to the northwest of the village. This geographical context complements the specific information about hiking and cycling routes with a broader perspective.
Hiking and Cycling
A marked hiking trail runs through Nové Sedlice towards the Přerovec reservoir. A red-marked and a blue-marked hiking route also run along Hlavní Street. Visitors also use the pavements there. This gives hikers several points of reference for planning: the direction of the reservoir and the colour markings along Hlavní Street.
Three routes with different descriptions are relevant for cyclists. The regional Opava–Radegast Beer Cycling Route runs through the cadastral area of Nové Sedlice. Local cycling route 6199 also runs through the cadastral area, in a north–south direction and towards Přerovec and Hrabyně; it continues from Nové Sedlice to Štítina. Route 6055 reaches the village from Raduň after a four-kilometre stretch across meadows and between small patches of woodland. For route 6055, the landscape and length of the stretch are the specific points of reference, while route 6199 is described in terms of its direction and continuation. The Beer Cycling Route is identified by its regional course through the cadastral area.
Local History and Recreation
The former school building was built in 1924, has been beautifully restored and is considered an Art Nouveau building. Today it houses the kindergarten, the municipal cultural centre and the library. Its former use as a school and its current municipal functions bring together different chapters of the village’s history in one building.
A cross dating from 1915 beside the Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity commemorates František Tížek, who fell in the First World War. The memorial at the cross predates the construction of the school building in 1924. Together, the two provide different points of reference for local history: the cross commemorates the war, while the school building reflects the history of the village’s buildings and their uses.
Areál Soudržnosti serves as a place for everyday recreation and includes a football pitch. This identifies a specific leisure facility alongside the village’s history.
Getting There by Bus
Within the IDS, Nové Sedlice is served by the Opava–Komárov–Nové Sedlice–Štítina–Kravaře–Ostrava bus line. The full sequence of stops helps show where the village fits into the route. Check the current timetable before travelling, as schedules may change. If you want to plan your journey around a specific arrival date, checking the timetable is a practical addition to the route information.
