Mikolajice’s local history can be explored through several points of reference: chapels, crosses and historical information about ownership. Events and a cycling tour through the village add concrete reasons to visit. This lets you plan your stay around the topics that interest you, while distinguishing between places of cultural and historical interest and events taking place on specific dates.

Places of Cultural Interest and History

The Chapel of Saint Florian is considered an architectural landmark of Mikolajice; it is associated with a cross dating from 1892. The Chapel of Saint Anne also stands on road III/44339. The chapel to fallen soldiers is on the same road, at the northern edge of the built-up area. It is designated a monument of local significance.

A cross dating from 1886 and a wayside shrine stand on road II/443. The cross is at the eastern boundary of Mikolajice, while the wayside shrine is at the eastern edge of the built-up area. The location details distinguish the two sites: the year 1886 is given for the cross, while the wayside shrine is described as being at the edge of the built-up area.

Mikolajice is first mentioned in a fief book of the Bishop of Olomouc under the Latin form “Niclouicz.” For 1389, the book names Ota Stoš of Bránice as the owner of two parts of the village; at the time, these were fiefs of the Bishop of Olomouc in the Osoblaha district. From 1408, Mikolajice belonged to the Štáblovice fief estate, which was then administered by Jan z Liptáně. These details shed light on different aspects of the village’s history: its recorded name, ownership of two parts and its later incorporation into the fief estate.

Events with a Parade and Horses

The Vodění medvěda parade passed through Mikolajice in 2022 and again on February 14, 2026. If you want to include an upcoming event in your travel plans, check the date before you travel, as future dates may differ.

Riders with horses and participants with horse-drawn carriages are welcome at the Selská Hubertova jízda. Spectators can also ride along on horseback. The event therefore offers different ways to take part: you can join as a participant with a horse or carriage, or ride along as a spectator.

A Cycling Tour Through Mikolajice

The 55 km “Zabytki techniki” cycling tour is considered easy and passes through Dolní Životice, Mikolajice and Štáblovice. In the route’s stated order, Mikolajice lies between the other two places. Two specific details can help you choose the route: its total length and its easy rating. Unlike the individual chapels and crosses, the focus here is a route connecting several named places.

Refreshments in the Village

The U našich pub offers refreshments and has 37 seats. Drinks include Radegast 10°, spirits and non-alcoholic beverages. As service and drink details may change, check the current offerings before visiting.
