Kinnarumma: Churches, Boule and Nature
Accommodation in Kinnarumma
Kinnarumma brings together local history, a specific boule activity and nature themes surrounding lakes, wetlands and waterways. This gives you a range of possible priorities when planning your trip, rather than a single main focus. If you are looking for a hotel, first consider whether you would like to focus your trip on historical sites, an activity or the landscape.
Churches and Local History
There have been four church buildings in total on the site of today’s Kinnarumma kyrka: three earlier churches at the current location and another to the south. The total therefore includes not only the predecessor buildings at the present-day church; the site to the south is also part of this local history. Ramnakyrkan, which once stood in Kinnarumma, has ceiling paintings from the 1750s by Detleff Ross. Its former location connects the church with Kinnarumma, while the dated paintings add a specific art-historical reference.
Kinnarumma kvarn near Lilla Årydet is another historical trace: it is listed in the historical dam register and marked on a Härad map from the late 19th century. There is therefore both a register entry and a map showing the mill. In Flenstorp, the Kinnarumma Hembygdsförening carries out its activities in a Framkammarstuga dating from 1821.
Activities and Getting Around Locally
Specific leisure options include six boule courts, which the Kinnarumma Hembygdsförening rents out. The facilities include rain protection and seating. The number of courts and the details of the facilities make it easy to include boule as a distinct activity in your trip, rather than focusing your stay exclusively on sightseeing. The Häggån Kinnarumma barbecue area is at Kinnarumma badplats, in a small bend in the Häggån.
Lakes, Wetlands and Waterways
The Trestjärnesjöarna lake and bog area borders the Kinnarumma survey area to the east and was assessed as an area of high natural value in the 2022 nature-value survey. An open wetland in the survey area also has high natural value and is particularly valuable for amphibians. Both findings refer to the 2022 nature-value survey; ecological conditions can change over time.
A natural, meandering watercourse rises in Trestjärnesjöarna and runs through the Kinnarumma survey area. “Meandering” describes the winding course of a body of water; this detail clarifies not only where the watercourse begins but also its shape. Moor frogs, common frogs and smooth newts were observed in the watercourse area. These species observations date from 2022; habitats and populations can change over time.
A section of Töllesjöbäcken in the Kinnarumma survey area supports fish; a relatively large number of trout were recorded there. This observation comes from a 2022 nature-value survey; fish populations can change.
