Pozuelo De Alarcón offers a range of options for a trip: green spaces with named trails, historical monuments, and cultural venues for exhibitions and events. To plan your visit, you can first decide whether you are more interested in the town’s history, its landscapes and views, or its traditional festivals. The parks and cultural sites mentioned here offer specific themes to explore—without requiring you to focus your stay on just one of them.

Parks, Trails and Views

Parque Forestal Adolfo Suárez is located in Pozuelo De Alarcón, in the expansion area of Casa de Campo, and covers 150 hectares. The Senda de la Antequina, a 2.5-kilometre trail, runs through the park. The area and specific trail length offer two different ways to plan your visit: you can explore the park as a larger green space or include the named trail as a route in its own right.

The viewpoints offer different perspectives, too. El Torreón is a viewpoint overlooking Pozuelo De Alarcón. Parque Cerro de los Perdigones has a viewpoint with views of the Sierra and the city of Madrid. Its observation terrace is accessible on foot via two paths on opposite sides. The sites therefore differ mainly in what they overlook and—in the case of Cerro de los Perdigones—in the access routes described.

Parque Cerro de los Perdigones is also home to the Teatro del Bosque, an open-air auditorium integrated into the grounds. If you would like to explore green spaces and built cultural venues together, you will find both within the park described here. Parque Forestal de Arroyo Meaques, in turn, is part of the connection through which the Cañada Real Vereda de las Carreras links Monte Gancedo with Madrid’s Casa de Campo.

Other parks differ in their facilities. Parque Prados de Torrejón has a public fountain, a pétanque court, a children’s play area and a food and drink area. As park facilities can change, it is worth checking the latest information before your visit. Parque Isaac Albéniz has two modern children’s play areas, a cycle path and a lake. These features can help you compare green spaces based on what interests you on site: views, trails, play areas, cycle paths or lakes.

Monuments and Cultural Venues

Cruz de la Atalaya is considered the oldest monument in Pozuelo De Alarcón. It is located in Parque Forestal Cruz de la Atalaya, right at the beginning of Camino Viejo. Its significance can also be understood in historical context: it once marked roughly the midpoint between Pozuelo and Húmera, when the two were still independent municipalities. Its approximate location and their former municipal status are connected—the Cruz recalls a time when the two places were still separate.

Centro Cultural MIRA has a large exhibition hall and three adjoining rooms where exhibitions can be developed. Teatro MIRA offers 565 seats and eight spaces for wheelchair users. The figures describe different facilities: exhibition spaces are the focus at Centro Cultural MIRA, while seating capacity is the focus at Teatro MIRA. They provide a factual overview of the two cultural venues without assuming a particular event date.

Traditions and Dates

The festival in honour of Saint Sebastian is celebrated in Pozuelo De Alarcón every year on 20 January. As part of the festivities, a mass and a procession featuring the traditional Tamboreada take place on the Sunday after 20 January. At festival time, people also make sweet ring-shaped bread rolls known as “caridades,” flavoured with anise and aguardiente. The feast day, procession and pastries offer different glimpses of the same local tradition.

Another food event is the “Pozuelo de Tapas” festival. It is held annually in two editions, usually in April and November. During each week-long festival, visitors can try the tapas offered by restaurants and vote for their favourite. If you would like to plan your trip around one of the editions, check the dates of the event in question: the months mentioned are typical, but no fixed dates are specified.

Manteo del Pelele is also part of the town’s cultural heritage and is one of its oldest traditions. It was celebrated in Plaza de la Coronación. The Asociación Cultural La Poza revived the custom in the early 1990s. This historical context complements the annually dated celebrations with a tradition that was revived in the more recent past.
