Lubin County brings together a range of reasons to visit: hiking trails of varying lengths, places along the Oder River and culture in Lubin. Those who enjoy spending time outdoors can choose from several routes and landscape themes. For a cultural focus, there are historic buildings, museums and an outdoor exhibition. When planning your trip, you can decide whether trails, nature along the river or history should take centre stage.

Hiking trails of varying lengths

The blue Szlak Odry is a 256 km national hiking trail in the Kraina Łęgów Odrzańskich. In Lubin County, it passes through Ścinawa and Chobienia. The red Szlak Dziadoszan is about 129 km long, is a regional hiking trail and is part of the county’s trail network. The red Szlak dookoła Lubina is listed as a local hiking trail and is 85.5 km long. A shorter route is the black Szlak spacerowy: it is 11.5 km long and runs from Lubin via Obora to Szklary Górne.

The distances therefore range from 11.5 km to a 256 km route, with the approximately 129 km Szlak Dziadoszan in between. This range helps you choose hiking ideas according to the distance you have in mind. The Dolina Zimnicy educational trail is also within the city limits of Lubin and adds a nature trail to the local options.

Oder River landscapes and river routes

The municipality of Ścinawa includes the Łęgi Odrzańskie natural area and oxbow lakes, which provide habitats for numerous plant and animal species. Ścinawa also has an inland port on the Oder River. The blue Szlak Odry passes through Ścinawa and Chobienia, offering another way to explore the county’s river landscape.

The 18 km Pętla ścinawsko-chobieńska canoe route from Ścinawa to Chobienia offers a different perspective on the Oder River. It passes close to the Ścinawskie Bagna ecological landscape feature. Rare waterbirds occur there, including Eurasian teal, western marsh harrier, Montagu’s harrier and Eurasian oystercatcher. If you plan to take this canoe route, check the current options for starting and returning before setting out.

Cultural history in Lubin

The outdoor exhibition “Pionierzy lubińscy 1945” is located at Lubin railway station. Its exhibits include the restored Ty2-22 locomotive. The town hall is another historic landmark: it was built in 1768–1769 and now houses the Muzeum Historyczne w Lubinie. The 14th-century town walls and the 14th-century defensive tower on ul. Tysiąclecia are also part of the historic townscape; both are listed in the heritage register.

The outdoor area of the Muzeum Historyczne w Lubinie is in Leśny Park. It includes permanent exhibitions on the First World War and the Soviet occupation of Poland, as well as a recreation area with a ropes course. The museum sites and listed historic buildings offer different points of interest: the exhibition at the railway station features a specific restored vehicle, while the town hall, town walls and defensive tower reveal Lubin’s architectural history.

Wildlife at the Ogród Zoologiczny w Lubinie

The Ogród Zoologiczny w Lubinie has the educational and tourist trail “Fauna Polski”, which includes a European bison enclosure. The trail opened in 2023. The Szlak Ptaków offers a different focus, with aviaries housing more than 60 bird species from Poland and around the world. This means that the zoo offers both a trail about Polish fauna and a dedicated bird trail. Together with the routes and cultural sites, these provide a variety of themes to help you plan your stay in Lubin County.
