Lubin brings together evidence of medieval fortifications, a park pond, an aquapark and cycling routes. To plan your stay, you can first choose between the themes of city history, parks and leisure activities. The historical evidence ranges from a single defensive tower to the former course of the city walls; the park, aquapark and cycling routes offer different focuses. This makes it possible to plan your trip around the interests that genuinely matter to you.

History of the fortifications

The 14th-century defensive tower is located on ul. Tysiąclecia in Lubin. It is listed in the register of historic monuments under number 38/L; the legally binding decision was dated 22 November 1956. The owner is the Lubin municipal authority. The tower’s construction date and its registration decision are two separate historical facts: the 14th century refers to the tower, and 1956 to its formal listing. The tower therefore represents both medieval construction and a specific later protection decision.

Another way to look at the fortifications is the course of the medieval city walls: around 70 percent of their former extent has survived. The surviving remains include the gate tower of the Głogowska Gate. While the percentage describes how much of the former city walls remains, the gate tower focuses on a single structure. Lubin’s history of fortification can thus be explored through both a specific tower and the surviving course of the walls.

Parks, leisure and active trip planning

Park Wrocławski is home to an educational and landscape pond covering around 0.5 hectares. It adds a landscape and learning dimension to the historical themes. If you would like to include parkland as well as buildings in your trip, you can make the pond a separate point of interest in Lubin. The term “educational and landscape pond” brings together two perspectives: its educational aspect and its place in the park landscape.

Lubin Aquapark has five zones with numerous attractions. Its spa and wellness area includes eight saunas. The five zones describe the layout of the facility, while the eight saunas are a specific part of its wellness offering. For visitors who want to focus on leisure and wellness, the aquapark can be included as a theme in its own right. As operating status can change, check the operator’s latest information before your visit.

Another specific option for planning your trip is the Memoriał Iwony Buczek. It has been held since 2014; its difficulty climbing competition is included in the national calendar of climbing events. Check the event date separately for the year you plan to travel.

Around twelve kilometres of cycling routes run through Lubin. If you want to make cycling the focus of your stay, you can take the routes into account when planning and consult up-to-date information on their alignment, as the network may change. This gives you a choice of different themes for your stay: historical fortifications, a park pond, aquapark facilities, a climbing competition and cycling routes.
