Poręba lies in the valley of the Porębnik, which cuts into the Bystrzyckie Mountains towards the 690-metre-high Przełęcz nad Porębą pass. The valley, mountains and pass provide a clear framework for exploring the area: two cycling routes pass through Poręba, and a designated walking trail connects Długopole-Zdrój with the pass via the village. The historic sites are also spread across the village and the area around the pass. Before looking for a hotel, you can decide whether cycling routes, a hike, or traces of culture and history should shape your stay.

Cycling routes by itinerary and destination

Two routes with different layouts are available for cycling. An approximately 37-kilometre route starts in Bystrzyca Kłodzka, passes through Stara Bystrzyca, Wójtowice, Młoty, Spalona and Poręba to Długopole-Zdrój, and then returns to Bystrzyca Kłodzka. Its return to the starting point makes it a circular route. Another cycling route is approximately 45 kilometres long and runs from Bystrzyca Kłodzka via Poręba to Długopole-Zdrój. It initially follows the international ER 2 cycle route; from Poręba, it continues along a green trail. Length, itinerary and destination are therefore all important when comparing the routes: the first returns to Bystrzyca Kłodzka, while the second ends in Długopole-Zdrój and changes trails at Poręba. This allows you to compare the two routes by their layout and landmarks.

On foot to the pass

The Długopole-Zdrój–Poręba–Przełęcz nad Porębą walking trail is listed as a 5.5-kilometre route with a walking time of 1 hour and 45 minutes. It is not signposted; access is via a road. Bear in mind the lack of signage when planning your route and navigating. The trail reaches the 690-metre-high pass, whose surroundings are considered particularly scenic. Unlike the two cycling routes, this walking trail has both a stated walking time and a specific pass as its destination. These give you clear points of reference when incorporating the route into your travel plans.

Cultural heritage in the village and at the pass

The Church of St Sebastian stands in Poręba. It is a protected historic monument and is included in the monument register and the list of monuments. Beside the church is a stone Calvary group dating from the 18th or 19th century; there is also a penitential cross in Poręba. Further traces of military history can be found at the pass: the remains of two small combat bunkers lie to its north and south, hidden in the vegetation. They were built by the Germans in the 1930s. The historic sites can therefore be distinguished by location: the religious monuments are in Poręba, while the concealed bunker remains are in the area around the pass. The sites also represent different periods: the Calvary group dates from the 18th or 19th century, while the bunkers were built in the 1930s.
