Międzylesie offers several specific points of interest for a city-focused trip: a viewpoint at the railway station, a marked tourist route with 22 points, historic churches and residential buildings, and a designated hiking trail. When planning, you can decide whether to focus on the city’s history, its architecture or a hike. If you are looking for a hotel in Międzylesie, this overview provides specific ideas to help plan your stay.

Views and Routes

The Kolejowa viewpoint is located at Międzylesie railway station. From there, panoramic views stretch across the city and to the southern ridge of the Śnieżnik Massif, which runs along the border. The viewpoint therefore offers a view of both Międzylesie and the mountain ridge.

The Miejska Trasa Turystyczna was marked out in 2006 and includes 22 notable points. It was created for guests and tourists visiting the city and municipality. If you plan to rely on the route for navigation, check the local signs.

Another option to consider when planning is the hiking route from Międzylesie, ul. Sobieskiego, to Boboszów PKS (border crossing). The stated time for this direction is 2 hours and 5 minutes; actual walking time may vary. Note that this time applies to the route to Boboszów.

Architectural History in the Town

The Church of St. Barbara showcases a building history with Gothic and Baroque elements. It was built in 1491. After the original Gothic building was destroyed, the church was rebuilt in the Baroque style in 1670–1671. The pointed-arch windows and portal preserve elements of its original form. This building brings together surviving Gothic details and a later Baroque renovation.

The Neo-Gothic town hall, built in 1881, stands directly beside the church and serves as the seat of the city and municipal offices. The two neighbouring buildings represent different architectural styles and building periods. The castle and the Corpus Christi Church are also among Międzylesie’s attractions.

Religious Art and Historic Houses

Near the railway station stands a Baroque stone sculptural group dating from 1719. It depicts the Holy Trinity and the Coronation of Mary. A votive column topped with a figure of the Virgin Mary, dating from 1698, stands in the market square. The two works differ in location and form: a stone sculptural group in one place, a column with a figure of the Virgin Mary in the other.

Another architectural facet is represented by the weavers’ houses known as “Siedmiu Braci” (“Seven Brothers”), built at the end of the 18th century. The group consists of timber and brick buildings with arcades; two buildings survive. The simple stone portal and the coat of arms on the façade of the former home of the Ludwig merchant family also date from the late 18th century. The examples have different defining features: building materials and arcades shape the group of weavers’ houses, while the portal and coat of arms are the surviving façade details of the former merchant’s house.
