Konradów is located in the mountains. The village’s history includes the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the Dwór sędziowski, the old churchyard, and traditional rural buildings. There are also alpaca walks and a mini-zoo. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Konradów, these different cultural and recreational attractions can help you get a sense of the place.

Church and Dwór: Building History in the Kłodzko Region

The present-day Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was built in two phases. The tower was added in 1786; the main structure was then demolished and a new one built between 1804 and 1806. Its furnishings include a Baroque high altar dating from 1751, making it older than the present-day structure. Architecturally, the church represents the late phase of Baroque in the Kłodzko Region and its traditionalist style.

The interior decoration points to a later period: the architectural and decorative polychrome painting was executed in the late 19th or early 20th century. The church therefore brings together several distinct periods: the 18th-century high altar, the building phases of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and the later polychrome painting.

The Dwór sędziowski stands in the centre of the village. The present-day building was created in the first quarter of the 18th century by converting an older residential and farm building. It represents the local Baroque architecture of the Kłodzko Region and its strongly traditionalist style. The church and the Dwór sędziowski thus offer two distinct examples of how Baroque architecture developed in the region: the church is specifically described as belonging to the late phase of Baroque, while the Dwór represents local Baroque architecture.

Churchyard, Chapel, and Rural Houses

The old churchyard in Konradów has an oval layout and is enclosed by a stone wall. The cemetery chapel was built in the second quarter of the 19th century. Its simple, locally built, functional style is Neoclassical. The cemetery, chapel, and wall offer another perspective on the village’s architectural history, alongside the church and the Dwór sędziowski.

Religious monuments are also part of the village’s character: numerous shrines, religious statues, and roadside crosses have been preserved in Konradów and its immediate surroundings. There are also crucifixes and crosses along the cemetery wall, including crosses dating from 1829. The rural architecture reveals other details: preserved are houses with cross-vaulted rooms, houses with wooden upper floors that were later bricked in, and buildings with verandas. These examples broaden the view from the landmark buildings to the village’s traditional structures.

Mountain Setting and the History of Tourism

In the second half of the 19th century, Konradów was a summer resort. During the same period, the village lay along tourist routes from Lądek to Przełęcz Puchaczówka and Śnieżnik. Its summer-resort character and its location on these routes were two complementary aspects of its tourism role at the time. Together with its mountain setting, they provide a picture of the village that takes account of both the landscape and the history of travel to Konradów.

Alpaca Walks and Mini-Zoo

Alpaka Konradów’s mini-zoo combines walks with alpacas and encounters with various animals. These include mountain goats, donkeys, peacocks, rabbits, and lemurs. The “Spacery z Alpakami i Mini Zoo” attraction at Konradów 12 also has two ponies and four pygmy goats. This animal-focused offer provides a different experience from the architectural and village history, focusing on alpaca walks and encounters with animals.

When planning your trip, you can therefore consider whether you are more interested in historic architecture and rural building styles, or whether the animal-related attractions are also important to you. Konradów combines these themes with its mountain setting.
