Idzików
Accommodation in Idzików
Idzików can be explored through several focal points: a marked hiking trail connecting the village with several stops, and a rich architectural heritage. Pasterskie Skały, a rock formation and climbing site, are another attraction. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Idzików, these themes can guide your travel plans: would you like to experience the village mainly through a hike, its architectural history, or both?
Hiking trail and route sequences
A hiking trail marked with a yellow shell on a blue background runs from Międzygórze via Góra Igliczna, Marianówka, and Idzików to Bystrzyca Kłodzka. On this route, Idzików lies between Marianówka and Bystrzyca Kłodzka; the stated sequence begins in Międzygórze. The trail marker is a practical reference point for anyone interested in this hiking trail. Before setting out, it is advisable to check the current trail conditions.
Another route sequence runs from Bystrzyca Kłodzka via Wilkanów, Międzygórze, Igliczna, Szklary, Marianówka, and Idzików to Pławnica, then back to Bystrzyca Kłodzka. This sequence differs from the marked hiking route, which runs from Międzygórze to Bystrzyca Kłodzka: Idzików lies on both routes, but at different points in their respective sequences.
The Parish Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Parish Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands on an irregular platform elevated above the village’s main road. It is partly enclosed by a churchyard wall with a gate; beside the gate stands a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1747. Its elevated position and the statue are as much a part of the church’s character as its architectural forms and interior furnishings.
The church interior is decorated with polychrome painting in the Neo-Baroque style and predominantly Neoclassical ornament. In the older western part of the nave, remnants of a Gothic portal, as well as a pointed-arch entrance and pointed-arch windows, have been preserved. The church building thus brings together different architectural and decorative influences: the surviving pointed-arch forms stand alongside Neo-Baroque painting and predominantly Neoclassical ornament.
The furnishings include a Baroque-Rococo high altar with communion rails dating from around 1760, probably from the workshop of Michael Ignatz Klahr the Younger; an early Baroque wooden pulpit from 1679; and a stone Renaissance baptismal font from 1585. The different dates and styles place each item in its historical context. The uncertainty in the attribution of the high altar is part of the account: it probably came from the workshop named above.
Local history and Pasterskie Skały
The village’s history can also be traced through the remains of Górny Dwór on its eastern outskirts. They have historical and scientific value as evidence of the village’s past. This focus differs from that of the parish church: Górny Dwór is associated with historical remains and their significance for local history, while the church is notable for its surviving architecture, decoration, and furnishings.
Pasterskie Skały is a rock-climbing site. The rock formation lies on a low ridge near Idzików. If you plan to climb, check the current access conditions in advance.
A medieval legend tells how Pasterskie Skały got its name: according to the story, local shepherds rejected bread in the 14th century and were turned to stone as a result of their pride. Their silhouettes are said to have remained as the rocks rising above Idzików. The story is handed down as a legend; it adds a distinct local history to the rock formation’s landscape setting.
