Jodlow: Cycling, Hiking and Church History
Accommodation in Jodlow
If you are planning a trip to Jodłów, cycling and hiking opportunities, along with the Baroque Church of St. John the Baptist, can be the main focus. When looking for a hotel in Jodlow, the specific routes offer several points of reference: a singletrack loop with a stated distance and elevation gain, an educational trail, and a longer hiking route. This lets you plan your trip based on whether cycling, hiking, or a cultural attraction is your main interest.
Cycling: Loop, MTB Trail, and Red Route
The Ostoja singletrack loop is 13.9 kilometers long and includes 311 meters of elevation gain. It has two difficult sections with roots and rocks. The loop can be ridden with children; the difficult sections, totaling around 400 meters, are better covered on foot. So distance is not the only relevant factor: the terrain and sections to be covered on foot are also part of planning the route.
The access parking lot for the loop is in Jodłów, by the Ostoja shelter. Check the parking conditions before setting out. Singletrack Glacensis Jodłów is a signposted MTB trail. A red cycling route passes through Jodłów and continues to the Jodłów–Horní Morava border crossing. This gives you several points of reference to choose from: Ostoja has a described loop, distance, and terrain; Glacensis is a signposted MTB trail; and the red route names a destination.
Hiking: Educational Trail and Longer Hike
The “Kraina leśnych ciekawostek” educational trail leads from Jodłów to Trójmorski Wierch and is about four kilometers long. It was renovated in 2024. Using the Międzylesie Forest District as an example, it introduces forestry and key forms of nature conservation. The trail therefore has both a specific route and a thematic focus.
A longer hiking route leads from Międzylesie via Jodłów to Mały Śnieżnik (1,318 m) and the Hala pod Śnieżnikiem shelter; the stated walking time is eight hours. The educational trail’s distance and the walking time for this hike provide different points of reference for planning. For Ostoja, distance and elevation gain are the main considerations. Depending on which of these measures matters for your choice of route, you can weigh the activities differently.
Baroque Church in Jodłów
The Baroque Church of St. John the Baptist was built in 1756 to replace a wooden church dating from 1590. Its history therefore encompasses both the present-day church building and an earlier predecessor. An appointment by phone is required in advance to visit the interior. If you would like to visit the church, arrange your visit by phone beforehand. The church’s main altar was created by Alojzy Schmidt.
