Discover Sieraków: History, Nature and Activities
Accommodation in Sieraków
Sieraków combines a historic town centre with hiking trails, lakes and activities on the water. Highlights range from the history of the town centre and marked hiking trails to water sports and horse riding.
Town History and Culture
The oldest part of Sieraków includes the market square and the adjoining streets. The historic street layout that has been preserved is protected as a historic monument. The Bernardine Church was built in the 17th century and designed by Krzysztof Bonadura the Elder. The Muzeum Zamek Opalińskich is located in a rebuilt wing of the former castle and displays the sarcophagi of the Opaliński family. Exhibitions of painting, sculpture and photography are held there regularly. If a particular exhibition is important to your visit, check the current programme in advance.
Another cultural highlight can be found in the mural on Kowalska Street. It is dedicated to the 1,050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland and combines local elements with a reference to the baptism of Mieszko I.
Hiking Trails and Landscape
Sieraków lies in the heart of Sierakowski Landscape Park, which stretches between Międzychód, Kwilcz and Chrzypsko Wielkie. Morainic hills, river valleys and lake channels are among the park’s landscape features; it also includes part of Puszcza Notecka. Two marked hiking trails have specific route lengths and different courses. The yellow-and-black-marked Sieraków–Kukułka–Błota trail starts in Sieraków and is 14.9 kilometres long in total. The blue-marked Sieraków–Bucharzewo trail is 6.3 kilometres long and runs at some distance parallel to the Warta River. At 14.9 kilometres, the route via Kukułka–Błota is more than twice as long as the 6.3-kilometre route to Bucharzewo.
The Jezioro Kłosowskie can be seen from the Sieraków–Kukułka–Błota hiking trail. The lake is mostly surrounded by forest and has a varied, mostly high shoreline with several peninsulas. Two wooded islands and the adjacent waters belong to the strict Czaple Wyspy Reserve.
Activities on the Water and on Horseback
The seasonal WakePark Sieraków is located on Lake Jaroszewskie. Its two-mast lift is suitable for both beginners and experienced wakeboarders. This offers a different focus from the marked hiking trails: wakeboarding rather than choosing a route.
Stado Ogierów Sieraków is a centre for equestrian sports and riding holidays. If horse riding is one of your travel interests, it is a distinct activity in Sieraków.
The marina and the Warta River waterfront in Sieraków serve tourists as a place to launch and moor boats. Seasonal lifeguard supervision is planned at the municipal swimming area “Plaża Miejska nad Jeziorem Jaroszewskim” from 1 July to 31 August. If you are planning your visit specifically around this supervision, check before travelling whether the dates have been confirmed for your visit.
