Racot brings together the history of its palace with the history of horse breeding and riding. For travellers looking for a hotel in Racot, the Neoclassical palace is a prominent landmark: it now houses a high-quality three-star hotel and a modern training and leisure centre. The stud farm, church and park add cultural and equestrian themes to your travel plans.

Palace and Estate

The palace of the Princes Jabłonowski dates from the 18th century and is Neoclassical in style; it was designed by Dominik Merlini. In 1921, the palace was given the status of a residence of the Presidents of the Republic of Poland. The Racot State Stud Farm was established on the palace estate in 1928. The park adjacent to the palace was laid out in the English style. The historical associations thus span from the construction of the palace to the establishment of the stud farm, while Neoclassical architecture and English landscaping offer distinct points of interest.

Court Culture and Religious Heritage

The palace had one of the first court theatre stages in Poland, where works by Józef Wybicki and Wojciech Bogusławski were performed. The palace coach house displays a preserved carriage in which Ignacy Jan Paderewski travelled in December 1918. The stage and carriage offer two different perspectives on the palace’s history: performance culture on the one hand, and a tangible reminder of a particular journey on the other.

The church in Racot is the palace chapel belonging to the Jabłonowski family; it is dedicated to Saint Stanislaus and Saint George. Over the course of its history, it served both the Catholic and Protestant communities. The Protestant congregation in Racot was founded on 18 March 1817. The family connection, the dedication and the history of both communities are distinct yet complementary aspects of the church.

Riding and Stud Farm Activities

The Racot Stud Farm offers recreational riding and riding lessons for beginners; lessons are available to adults and children alike. Children can also enjoy 20-minute pony rides supervised by an instructor, with simple exercises available. The activities differ in their duration and purpose: the pony rides have a set duration and supervision, while beginner lessons help participants get started with riding. The stud farm also offers hippotherapy for people with health problems. The equestrian facilities include an indoor riding arena, an outdoor riding arena, a hippodrome and areas suitable for riding.

Long-standing traditions at the Racot Stud Farm include Hubertus, Powitanie wiosny, Majówka and Mikołajki. Racot also hosts the cultural and historical event series “Tygiel kultur” every two years; individual programme items may vary from one edition to the next.
