If you’re looking for a hotel in Czarnków, your travel interests can help guide you: Czarnkowsko-Trzcianecki County offers a range of lakes, cycling options and cultural sites, each with its own focus. You can start planning your trip with a specific question: Would you like to spend time by a lake, explore a cycling route, or discover architecture and history?

Lakes and trails in the county

The Freshwater Fish Park in Trzcianka is located by Lake Sarcze, on provincial road 178 between Poznań and Kołobrzeg. Ten giant fish models line the walking and cycling paths. Information boards cover fish reproduction, fishing gear and the nutritional value of fish. There are also three models of forest animals and six mushroom models. The park combines an outdoor trail with themes relating to fish and forests.

Lake Długie, also known as Logo, covers 61.3 hectares and is no more than 4.7 metres deep. A walking path runs around the lake, and fishing is possible. During the season, Logo bathing area adds a large sandy beach. This offers several ways to spend time: walking around the lake, fishing or—during the season—visiting the beach area. The seasonal restriction applies to the bathing area.

Cycling and events

The Poznań–Okonek Transwielkopolska Cycling Route runs through the county for a 59.5-kilometre stretch. The route is mostly paved and well suited to trekking bikes. Its length and surface are useful reference points when planning a ride. As surfaces and signage can change, it is worth checking the current route markers before setting off.

There are currently six free outdoor quest games in the county, offering exploration trips for children and adults. Individual routes may change. For an event focused on physical activity, there is “Spacer po zdrowie” (Walk for Health): Nordic Walking Lubasz organises a five-kilometre loop around Lake Duże in May. Dates and arrangements may vary, so check the latest information when planning to attend.

Architecture and traces of history

In Lubasz, the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a late Baroque Marian shrine. Its distinctive features include a single-nave layout, two diagonally placed towers on the façade and a unified Rococo interior. Those interested in architecture can appreciate the building’s form and interior together.

The post mill in Dębe offers a different glimpse of rural architectural history. Dating from the mid-19th century, it is considered a valuable example of rural technical architecture. In Gębiczyn is the best-preserved remnant of 18th-century Olęder building tradition in the Puszcza Notecka area. The “Od mariny do mariny śladami olędrów” (From Marina to Marina in the Footsteps of the Olęders) route follows traces of Olęder colonisation in the county and can be travelled by bicycle or car. These places and the route offer different ways to explore cultural history as part of your travel plans.

Educational trails in the wider destination of Greater Poland

The wider destination of Greater Poland also includes the Osowa Góra–Jeziory educational trail and the Nadwarciański educational trail. Both are listed as 5.5 kilometres long, but their estimated times differ: Osowa Góra–Jeziory takes three hours to walk one way, while the Nadwarciański trail takes three and a half hours. Osowa Góra–Jeziory introduces visitors to the main plant communities and the natural features of areas under strict protection. The trail ends at a viewpoint overlooking the castle island in Lake Góreckie. The Nadwarciański educational trail follows the Warta River and passes through habitats ranging from poplar and willow riparian forests to pine forests.

Wielkopolski National Park is also part of Greater Poland’s regional landscape. It protects a glacier-shaped landscape of forest and lake ecosystems amid meadows, fields and erratic boulders. Its 18 areas under strict protection preserve glacial landforms, near-natural plant communities and the animals associated with them. These regional themes are independent points of reference within the wider destination of Greater Poland.
