Marylin in the Heart of the Puszcza Notecka

Marylin lies in the heart of the Puszcza Notecka and within a Natura 2000 protected area. The local routes vary in length and mode of travel: Maryliński Świat Ryb is a nature trail by Lake Moczydło, a blue hiking trail and a cycling route pass through Marylin, and a canoe route starts there. The options range from a short walk by the lake to longer routes on foot, by bike or on the water.

Nature Trail and Recreation Area at Lake Moczydło

Maryliński Świat Ryb is a 600 m nature trail around Lake Moczydło. At 600 m, it is considerably shorter than the three routes of 16 to 24 km; its focus on nature also sets it apart from hiking, cycling and canoeing. It stays by Lake Moczydło, while the longer routes name several places along their way. The recreation area in Marylin by Lake Moczydło has a volleyball court, a basketball court and play equipment. If you plan to use these facilities, check their current condition before your visit. The nature trail and recreation area are both associated with the same lake, but have different focuses: nature on the trail, and sport and play at the recreation area.

Hiking, Cycling and Canoe Routes

The blue hiking trail is 21.2 km long and runs from Bucharzewo through Marylin to Miały. Its entire route passes through the forests of the Puszcza Notecka. Marylin lies between the named endpoints, so the route combines a specific sequence of places with an uninterrupted stretch through the forest.

The cycling route is 24 km long and runs from Drawsko through Pęckowo, Marylin and Piłka, then via Pęckowo back to Drawsko. It starts and ends in Drawsko, with Marylin along the way. At 24 km, this route is longer than the 21.2 km hiking trail. The second mention of Pęckowo represents the return leg in the stated sequence of places.

The 16 km canoe route on the Miała starts in Marylin and runs via Piłka and Kamiennik to Chełst. It is the shortest of the three longer routes and differs in starting in the village, whereas the hiking and cycling routes pass through Marylin.

To choose between the three longer routes, consider both distance and starting point: they range from 16 km on the Miała to 21.2 km on foot and 24 km by bike. The canoe route starts in Marylin; the hiking and cycling routes pass through the village. This makes it possible to weigh the mode of travel alongside Marylin’s role along the route.

18th-Century Houses

The buildings also offer a specific connection to the village: houses dating from the 18th century stand at numbers 17 and 22 in Marylin. These are two individual houses. They add a feature of the village’s character to the nature and route perspectives, at a different scale from the long trails: historic buildings at two specified addresses.
