Temmen-Ringenwalde offers visitors a variety of points of interest: in Ringenwalde, churches, the village museum and reminders of village life shape the cultural landscape. Temmen lies in the heart of the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve and is surrounded by numerous lakes. Other highlights include a circular hiking trail with a natural bathing area and a rest stop where legends are presented artistically. Neu Temmen also has its own distinctive feature: a gallery in the NABU church. When planning your trip, you can choose between architectural history, rural everyday life and nature experiences.

Churches and Village History in Ringenwalde

Ringenwalde Church brings together different phases of construction and furnishing. It was consecrated in 1280; its nave dates from that time, while the tower was built at the end of the 19th century. Inside, the pulpit altar is dated 1759. The gallery and pews also date from the 18th century. The 1760 organ is designed in the Baroque style. The church thus brings together its medieval origins and later furnishings.

The historic village includes numerous well-preserved houses and stable buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Some are built of brick, while others are half-timbered, offering examples of two different building methods. The village museum complements this glimpse into rural life with furnishings from the 19th and 20th centuries. Exhibits include a kitchen, living room and bedroom. The village buildings and museum thus offer different perspectives: preserved architecture and the furnishings of everyday home life.

Castle Park and Historic Traces

Ringenwalde Castle Park is home to a neo-Gothic family burial site built in 1903/04 for the count's family. At the edge of the park, on a small hill, stands the “Giant Boulder,” a massive gneiss-granite erratic with a volume of around 22 cubic metres. The park brings together two striking features: family history and a natural monument whose size can be gauged from its approximate volume.

South of Ringenwalde, in a small wood, lies a burial mound field with an information board and a reconstructed grave. The board and reconstructed grave add another historical point of interest to the church and village history. Together, these sites offer a range of topics for culturally minded visitors: medieval church architecture, village home life, the family burial site and the burial mound field.

Nature and Special Places in Temmen and Neu Temmen

The “Around Temmen” circular hiking trail reaches a natural bathing area with a sandy beach on Lake Großer Krinertsee. The route thus combines a hike with a specific destination by the water. It also passes the legendary “Sleeping Giant” rest stop, whose artistic design brings old legends to life. Along the way, visitors encounter both a natural landmark and an artistic interpretation of traditional stories.

In Neu Temmen, the tower gallery in the NABU church hosts small exhibitions and presentations on nature, God and humanity. This differs from Ringenwalde Church, where the building's construction phases and furnishings bring the village's history to life. Nearby, the Information Centre also offers bicycle rentals for exploring the surrounding area.

The Uckermark in a Broader Context

Beyond Temmen-Ringenwalde, the Uckermark offers a regional setting for nature and hiking. Uckermärkische Seen Nature Park lies in the water-rich, gently rolling Uckermark and encompasses many clear-water lakes, kettle holes and wetlands. The Uckermark has 1,200 kilometres of designated hiking trails. The Märkischer Landweg stretches for 217 kilometres over ten stages across the Uckermark and passes through three National Natural Landscapes. These regional dimensions complement the local destinations: the “Around Temmen” circular trail, with its natural bathing area and the “Sleeping Giant” rest stop.
