Discover Ráztočno
Accommodation in Ráztočno
Ráztočno lies in the Handlová spur of the Upper Nitra Basin, at the southwestern foot of the Žiar Mountains and in the valley of the Handlovka stream. The edge of the basin, the foot of the mountains and the stream valley shape the landscape around the village. If you are considering Ráztočno as a destination for a hotel stay, you can plan your trip around views, outdoor activities or local history.
Views and landscape
Hájska skala rock viewpoint can be reached via a blue-marked trail towards Ráztočno. From there, you can see the villages in the Handlová Valley. The publicly accessible cave of the same name lies below the rock viewpoint; conditions inside the cave may vary. In favorable weather, Bralová skala offers views of the town of Handlová, the Turiec Basin, the Malá Fatra, the Kremnica Mountains and Vtáčnik. This gives you a choice of different kinds of views: the Handlová Valley from Hájska skala, and a combination of town, basin and mountains from Bralová skala.
Hiking trails by destination and distance
A blue-marked hiking route connects Ráztočno and Sklené over 9 km. Check the current trail markings and conditions before setting out. Another hike leads from Remata near Ráztočno to Bralová skala. It is marked red and yellow, rated moderate, is 1.6 km long and takes about 45 minutes. The routes therefore differ in both destination and distance: one connects two villages, while the other leads from Remata to a viewpoint. Conditions on the route from Remata may change; check them before setting off.
Cycling around Ráztočno
The Bojnický cyklookruh and Rematská spojka cycle routes pass through the municipality’s cadastral area. The Bojnický cycle route runs through Ráztočno between Remata and Nedožery-Brezany. For navigation, both the two named cycle routes in the municipal area and the specific sequence of places along the route through Ráztočno are relevant. Signage and route conditions may change; check them before your ride.
Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and sundials
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was originally built between 1280 and 1300 as an early Gothic church. Vertical sundials are located on its southern wall. Their dial is divided into full hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the sundials probably date from around 1667. The two dates refer to different historical periods: the early Gothic construction of the church and the sundials, whose creation is dated several centuries later.
Event and rail travel planning
According to a municipal page published in 2023, the Beh SNP race takes place every year with international participation. If you would like to plan your trip around this event, check the date of the current edition in advance. A 2023 transport description identifies Ráztočno and Remäta as the only two stops on the Prievidza–Horná Štubňa railway line without ticket sales. Check the current rail regulations before travelling.
