Iňa is located in the northeastern part of the Podhorská pahorkatina upland. Its hilly landscape, historical landmarks and regular events calendar give the village several different facets. For planning your visit, this offers both a sense of the landscape and cultural and seasonal points of interest.

Landscape and Character

The cadastral area is hilly and deforested. Geologically, it consists of younger Tertiary clays with gravel and sand; loess predominates at the surface. Agricultural land accounts for 93% of Iňa’s land area. Of this, 79% is arable land and 13% is permanent crops. These figures sketch out the village’s rural setting, linking its specific terrain with agricultural land use and geological composition.

The terrain and land use offer two distinct perspectives: the hills describe the relief, while the percentages show the high share of agricultural land. Both complement the village’s cultural points of interest without describing the same aspect of the place.

History and Local Memorials

Iňa was first mentioned in writing in 1156. A parish already existed at the beginning of the 14th century. Later points of reference in the village’s church history include the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary (Kostol Ružencovej Panny Márie): its construction began with funds from a public collection, and it was consecrated in 1866. A wooden statue of the Virgin Mary stands in front of the local church. The memorial room presents the history, customs and way of life of the community of Iňa; there is also a monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars.

Those interested in the village’s development can read the sequence from its first written mention, through the early parish, to the church consecrated in 1866 as a series of distinct historical reference points. The church represents a later chapter in local church history. The memorial room and monument add the perspectives of customs, way of life and remembrance of the victims of war.
