Kováčová: Spa, Nature and Culture
Accommodation in Kováčová
Kováčová lies northwest of the town of Zvolen, at an altitude of 320 metres, on the foothills of the Kremnické pohorie. The spa is outside the bustle of the town, in peaceful green surroundings with a spa park. The spa, nature and cultural monuments give the place its distinctive character. When planning your trip, it is worth considering these themes separately: alongside mineral water and a pond in the spa grounds, cycling routes, a nature trail and a protected memorial house offer other ways to experience the area.
Spa and water attractions
The water at Kúpele Kováčová is moderately mineralised and sulphatic, a bicarbonate-calcium-magnesium water with elevated fluoride content. At 48.5 °C, it forms the basis of the treatment.
The Kováčovský rybník is located within the spa grounds and offers a peaceful place to relax and fish for sport. If you would like to fish, check the applicable arrangements separately.
Another water attraction is Holidaypark Kováčová. Its facilities include various hydromassage features and a 60-metre indoor waterslide with a measuring device and light and sound effects. Aqua aerobics, aqua dance, exercises with a physiotherapist and baby swimming are held regularly. As schedules may change, check in advance whether your preferred activity is available on your dates.

Nature trail and protected oaks
Duby v Kováčovej refers to two mighty pedunculate oaks (Quercus robur), remnants of the original forest. They stand west of the centre, in holiday cottage area B, on the southeastern foothills of the Kremnické pohorie. The trees were placed under protection in 1987 and are estimated to be more than 200 years old.
To reach the Duby v Kováčovej nature trail, take the bus to the Kováčová, obecný úrad stop. From there, walk 1.3 km west, with an elevation gain of 73 m, to the holiday cottage area.
Cultural monument in Kováčová
The memorial house with a commemorative plaque at 59 Kúpeľná Street is protected as a national cultural monument and is identified with the Detvan spa building. Its association with Detvan links its protected status to a specific building in Kováčová and complements the nature themes with a cultural and historical perspective.
