During a stay in Tume, you can focus separately on local culture and the landscape of Tume Parish. Tume Cultural Centre represents the area's cultural history, while ridges, lakes and forests shape the parish's landscape. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Tume, this overview can help you decide what kind of trip you want to take.

Culture at Tume Cultural Centre

Since its beginnings, the programme at Tume Cultural Centre has included theatre performances, concerts by professional artists and balls. It was the first cultural centre of this size in the surrounding area. Tume's mixed choir won a gold diploma at a choir competition in Danzig, achieving international success. The municipality recorded this achievement in its 2024 culture and honours report.

Landscape and nature in Tume Parish

The relief of Tume Parish is shaped by the meeting of the North Kurzeme and East Kurzeme highlands. Between them lies the ancient valley of the Slocene. The largest lakes in Tume Parish include Lake Seklis, Lake Jumprava and Lake Sivēnu. Lake Seklis covers 34 hectares.

Forests line the northern edge of Tume Parish. Tumes meži is home to large populations of stiff clubmoss; the forests are also important for the protection of a priority boreal habitat of European importance. The roads from Tukums also climb uphill through Tume Parish, offering scenic views.

Historical sites and exhibitions

Nearby, Vecmoku Manor is mentioned in historical sources as early as 1544. The surviving ruins of the manor house and several farm buildings can be visited there. An avenue in Vecmoku Park is about one kilometre long and is considered Latvia's longest avenue of Dutch lime trees.

Jaunmoku Palace was built around 1901 as a hunting and summer residence. The palace's Forestry Museum features a special exhibition on forests, wildlife and the everyday lives of forestry workers over the course of a century.
