Jablůnka – Culture, Landscape and Nature Trail
Accommodation in Jablůnka
Jablůnka combines cultural monuments and local history with the Kotáry, co pamatujú nature trail. Three specific aspects are worth considering when planning your trip: the Baroque cross on the U Kříže hill, two circular routes of different lengths, and the town’s rail and road connections. This makes it possible to consider culture, landscape and access as distinct points of interest.
Cultural Monument and Local History
The Jablůnka cross, dating from 1771, stands on U Kříže hill, on the road between Jablůnka and Bystřička. It has been protected as a cultural monument since 1958. Its Baroque plinth is made of sandstone. The front bears the relief coat of arms of the Illesházy family, and the back bears the year 1771. The monument’s location, material and design give it several specific features that can be considered together when placing its history in context.
Another example of local tradition is the competition “O nejlepší jablůnecků jabkovicu a o nejlepší jabkovů buchtu”. Its 21st edition took place on 6 June 2026.
Evangelical Church and Remembrance
The foundation stone of the Evangelical church in Jablůnka was laid in 1877. The church burned down in 1903 and was subsequently restored. A monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars stands next to it. It was reconstructed in 1995 and fitted with a memorial capsule. The history of the church building and the commemoration of the victims of two world wars represent distinct themes in the town’s history.
Kotáry, co pamatujú Nature Trail
The Kotáry, co pamatujú nature trail runs through the landscape around Jablůnka and connects the history of the municipality with the landscape and the memories of local residents. Its ten stops cover Jablůnka’s history, everyday life and residents’ memories. The route thus encompasses both historical topics and local people’s recollections.
There are two moderately difficult options for the circular route: the green loop is approximately 6 km long, and the yellow one approximately 10 km. Both have the same stated difficulty level; they differ in approximate length. When weighing up the options, you can therefore start by comparing the route length and the corresponding colour markings.
Landscape Around Jablůnka
Jablůnka lies partly on the river deposits of the Vsetínská Bečva and partly on slopes leading to the western foothills of the Vsetínské vrchy. Both river deposits and slopes are therefore part of the town’s landscape. This adds a geographical context to the nature trail’s themes and offers a different perspective from the local monuments or the choice between the circular routes.
Rail and Road
Jablůnka is situated on road I/57 and on the railway line from Valašské Meziříčí to Vsetín. The station is on line 280; the stated route is (Olomouc–) Přerov–Hranice na Moravě–Střelná (–Púchov). The station is also part of an integrated transport system.
Tickets are not sold at the station; they are sold on the train. If you are travelling by rail, check the timetable for your chosen travel date. This will help you plan your journey using the published connection and the relevant travel date.
The station’s construction history is also connected with the expansion of the railway line: the station building was originally built in 1885 on a single-track line and was modified in 1937 when the line was expanded to two tracks.
