Hošťálková lies 9 km west of Vsetín in the valley of the Ratibořka and its tributary streams. The settlement is spread across the hilly terrain of the Hostýnské vrchy. The landscape, viewpoints, and historic buildings give the place several different facets: when planning your trip, you can focus on the panoramas, take a closer look at the rock formations, or make local building culture the centerpiece.

Views and Landscape Features

From the summit of Bludný, you can see Kelčský Javorník, the Hostýnské vrchy, and the Javorníky. The local flora also has a particular point of interest: rare plants grow on Bludný’s grassy slopes, especially on the northern slope. Those interested in landscape and botany can therefore explore different aspects of the same mountain, without the views alone defining the character of the place.

Another panorama opens up from the covered viewing platform of the Rozhledna Maruška, at a height of 12 m. The visible landscapes and destinations include the Hostýnské vrchy, Vizovické vrchy, Javorníky, Moravskoslezské Karpaty, Beskydy, and Vsetínské vrchy, as well as Kelčský Javorník, Radhošť with Pustevny, Lysá hora, Kohútka, and Hošťálková. The two-storey wooden tower stands at an elevation of 664 m and is 16 m high. It has been open to the public since 2014; check the current opening conditions before your visit.

At Čertovy Skály, the landscape reveals a different side from the one seen at the viewpoints. Erosion has shaped honeycomb-like patterns, overhangs, ledges, ridges, and crevices in the whitish rocks, which are honey-colored in places. A small rock window is also among the described formations. The panorama and the visible traces of erosion offer different reasons to explore the surroundings.

Routes and Getting Around

Výhledové okno is located on a route leading from the center of Hošťálková towards Čertovy Skály. You can reach it by bus to the “Hošťálková, tělocvična” stop or by car; parking is available in the town center. The nearest train station is in Jablůnka. If you plan to travel by public transport, check the current timetable. Hošťálková also has wooden rest areas with information boards, solar-powered bicycle lockers, and bicycle service stands.

Two starting points with different route descriptions are given for the journey to Rozhledna Maruška. From Hošťálková Castle, a challenging climb of almost 5 km leads to the tower. From the Na Trojáku saddle, it is about a 2 km walk. Both routes are suitable for road bikes. The comparison is helpful for planning: the descriptions differ in both the starting point and the length and stated type of route. Route conditions may change; check the route before setting out.

Church, Castle, and Wallachian Building Culture

The buildings also reflect different periods and architectural styles. The Roman Catholic Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross dates from 1798. The stone Toleration Prayer House was built in 1831 in the Neoclassical style; inside is a valuable baptismal font dating from 1791. The two dates refer to different things: the baptismal font is older than the prayer house. Hošťálková Castle is a Late Neoclassical building from the mid-19th century.

Another type of building is represented by rural farmstead No. 16 in the town center. It has been a cultural monument since 1999 and is considered the last surviving example of log-built folk architecture of a uniform type of the original Wallachian house in the town center. Along with the dated religious buildings and the castle, it offers a distinct point of reference if you want to explore not only the views but also the region’s architectural history during your trip.

Plan Your Stay Around Your Interests

When looking for a hotel in Hošťálková, you can start by considering which of these themes you want your trip to focus on: the panoramas from Bludný and Maruška, the geological formations at Čertovy Skály, or the different buildings in town. The listed starting points, route lengths, and access information can help with practical planning; check the viewing tower’s opening conditions and current timetables in advance.
