Lázy brings together wide-ranging views, hiking and cross-country skiing routes, cycling routes and local cultural history. If you are looking for a hotel in Lázy, the kind of trip you have planned can help you decide what to focus on: hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing or an interest in traces of historic buildings and crafts. These different themes offer distinct perspectives on the town and give you concrete starting points for planning your trip.

Views and a natural monument

From Lázy, there are far-reaching views of the Kelečská pahorkatina, the Bečva Valley towards Hranice, the Beskydy Mountains and the Vsetínské vrchy. A valley view with a specifically stated direction is thus joined by several other named landscape areas. Another connection with nature is the Lípa v Lázech lime tree: it is designated as a solitary natural monument of the large-leaved lime (Tilia platyphyllos). The broad landscape views and the protected status of a single tree show two different sides of nature around Lázy.

Wooden bell tower and ceramic history

In the centre of Lázy stands a typical Wallachian wooden bell tower, built in 1925 and listed as a protected cultural monument. The bell in the tower bears an inscription naming Volfgang Adam Straub of Olomouc and the year 1848. The dates therefore refer to different things: 1925 to the construction of the tower, and 1848 to the bell inscription.

The town’s history also includes a manufactory that produced stoneware ceramics. It operated from 1854 until after 1900 and then disappeared. Using local clay, it produced red majolica with a white-glazed interior. The clay used, the red colour and the light-coloured interior glaze bring the former ceramic production to life without implying that it is a craft still practised today.

Hiking and cross-country skiing

For hikers, two routes can be distinguished by their stated distances. The yellow-marked hiking route from Oznice to Pržno passes through Lázy, is about 13.5 kilometres long and is recommended primarily for hikers. The Hostýnská magistrála runs from Svatý Hostýn to Lázy. Its main section is of moderate difficulty, more than 19 kilometres long, and crosses secondary routes at seven points.

When comparing distances, it is important to note what each one refers to: about 13.5 kilometres describes the route from Oznice to Pržno, while more than 19 kilometres describes the main section of the Hostýnská magistrála. These are therefore distances for different routes, not two measurements of the same route. The Hostýnská magistrála is also a groomed and marked cross-country skiing route through the Hostýnské vrchy. This provides another route option alongside hiking.

Cycling routes around Lázy

The cycling routes also differ in their courses. Cycle Route No. 6216 runs from Valašské Meziříčí via Poličná, Branky, Police, Podolí and Lázy, returning to Valašské Meziříčí. Lázy is therefore on a route that returns to its starting point.

Another route runs from Valašské Meziříčí via Lázy and Rajnochovice to the Rozhledna Kelčský Javorník lookout tower and passes through Lázy. The route from Valašské Meziříčí via Jarcovská Kula to Lázy reaches the town via the Cyrilometodějská stezka. Cycle Route No. 6118 follows the marked Hostýnská magistrála all the way to Lázy. To choose between these routes, you can use the stated route features as a guide: returning to Valašské Meziříčí, the lookout tower as a destination, or the route along the Hostýnská magistrála.
