Location and landscape

Lhota u Vsetína lies in the valley of the Rokytenka stream. The stream forms the boundary between the Hostýnské vrchy and the Vizovická vrchovina. Marked hiking trails lead into and around the village to nearby mountain areas and are intended for hikers and cyclists. This means the destination combines a specific valley location with opportunities to experience the landscape along the trails. If you are choosing a destination based on activities, these two aspects—landscape and trails—may be decisive.

The cadastral area covers 1,127 hectares; just under 62 percent of it is forested. This proportion adds a specific measure of the village area to its valley location. Its connection to the European Site of Community Importance EVL CZ0720033 Semetín is limited in scope: only the northern part of the cadastral area belongs to it. The protected-area designation therefore does not apply to the municipality as a whole.

Trails and routes

The Ovocná ekostezka runs along the ridge of Wallachian hills and offers views of the valleys and green, forested slopes. In the Lhotské paseky area, it connects to the “Tesák” nature trail. Information boards along the route cover the history of fruit growing, organic fruit cultivation and organic food. The trail thus combines landscape views with a thematic introduction to fruit growing. Three rest areas with mini playgrounds complement the route.

Two routes start and finish in Lhota u Vsetína: “Kolem pramene Rokytenky” and “Vyhlídka z Kapky.” For both, the village is the starting point and the end point. Cycle Route 46 follows less challenging terrain to Liptál and continues to Vsetín. Route 6121 leads via Horní Potoky and Nivy into the Janišov Valley; Route 6117 leads to Vizovice. When choosing, you can weigh the described features against one another: Route 46 also specifies the terrain, Route 6121 names intermediate places and a valley, and Route 6117 gives Vizovice as its destination.

Crafts and memorials

In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the home production of shingles, pocketknives, whetstones, glass beads and wicker goods was widespread in Lhota u Vsetína. The range extended from products for construction and crafts to glass and wicker goods. This history offers a different perspective on the village than its landscape and trails.

The Josef Barna Memorial commemorates a fallen soldier of the 1st Czechoslovak Army Corps; it is not nationally protected. The memorial to the victims of the Second World War is of local significance and is not protected. Both memorials are local points of interest that can add a historical dimension to a stay.
