If you’re looking for a hotel for a trip to Tymákov, its local architectural history and a recurring cross-country race offer two different starting points for planning. The historic center was designated a village heritage zone in 1995. Farmsteads, gates, a chapel and a bridge statue bring specific architectural features and dates to life; for the race, by contrast, the relevant travel connection depends on the edition and its route. This lets you decide early whether to plan your travel dates around an event or focus your stay mainly on the town’s historic character.

Townscape and Historic Buildings

Large stone farmsteads are clustered around the triangular village square in the northern part of Tymákov. Their Neoclassical gates date from around the middle of the 19th century. The group of farmsteads around the square forms an architectural feature in its own right, alongside the individual gates. If you’re interested in rural architecture, you can consider both the details of a Neoclassical gate and the broader townscape. Together, the village square, farmsteads and gates shape the area’s character.

Farmstead No. 71 comprises a log house, a stone granary dating from 1768 and a gate. The log house and granary showcase different building methods within the same complex. The former Tymákov judge’s farmstead, No. 1, also includes a log house and a gate. Comparing the two properties reveals recurring architectural features, while the granary at No. 71, dated 1768, provides an additional point of reference. Restored Hussite mounds are another historic feature of Tymákov.

The religious monuments also offer a point of comparison: the statue of St. John of Nepomuk on the bridge dates from 1849, while the Chapel of St. Wenceslas dates from 1881. The bridge statue is therefore 32 years older than the chapel. Together with the farmstead gates from around the middle of the 19th century, these dates illustrate different architectural forms and periods in the town’s history.

Cross-Country Race and Travel Dates

The recurring cross-country race “Běh přes tři vsi” may also be relevant when planning your travel dates. In the 2026 edition, its 8.6 km route passed through Sedlec, Lhůta and Tymákov. The route thus includes three explicitly named locations, including Tymákov. The distance refers to the race route. Event details may change in future editions.

These two interests lead to different decisions: for a stay connected to the race, the first priority is finding an edition that matches your travel dates; for a cultural and historical trip, you can decide whether to focus on the townscape as a whole or on individual historic buildings.
