There are several distinct themes to consider when choosing a stay in Chrást: a nature trail with natural and historical points of interest, cultural and historical sites, and traces of railway history. The following destinations can be grouped by their subject matter and how you can get around.

A nature trail through nature and history

The Chrást nature trail has a natural history branch and a historical branch, as well as nine information panels. This lets you choose between a focus on nature and one on local history. Another specific destination along the trail is a former fortified site. The combination of two thematic branches and a historical destination offers a starting point if you would like to explore the area's natural and historical connections together.

You can follow the nature trail by bicycle or with a stroller. When planning, you can consider your choice of subject focus and mode of transport separately.

Chapel and Skupovna

The Chapel of Our Lady is part of the nature trail and is a monument that was originally Baroque. For orientation, it is across from the school, next to a bus stop. This places it both in the thematic context of the trail and in relation to these two local landmarks.

Another historical trace leads to Skupovna, a modernist villa on the edge of Chrást in the direction of Zábělský Forest. Josef Skupa and his wife bought Skupovna in 1939 as a summer residence. During the Second World War, they moved there permanently with their puppets. This sequence describes a shift from initially seasonal use to a permanent move during wartime. As well as its architectural significance, the villa therefore has a specific connection to the history of the couple.

Historic routes and railways

The history of routes and railways offers further points of interest. The historic road from Chrást to Závrtek was restored by the municipality in 2007. A separate landmark is the Velký most railway bridge, also known as “Velkáč”: it lies on the Chrást–Radnice line and was built in 1893. Together, these facts represent two different aspects of infrastructure history: a historic road and a railway structure.

If you would like to include more destinations in your plans, Chrástecký pas offers 26 tourist destinations. Distances range from 3 to 39 km. Full-day cycling trips are recommended for the more distant excursions. This range and recommendation can help you distinguish the scale of an outing from the time it takes to plan, without limiting the destinations to a single short visit.

The Berounka and municipal forests

In the wider area around Chrást, Berounka Nature Park, with several natural monuments, surrounds the winding canyon of the Berounka River between Doubravka, a district of Plzeň, and Chrást. This describes a landscape in the wider surroundings of the town. By contrast, the popular Plzeň–Chrást railway cycle path runs through the local municipal forests. When choosing a theme, you can therefore distinguish between the broader natural landscape along the river and a cycle path that runs through the municipal forests.
