Bosanska Krupa – River Landscapes, Culture and Hotels
Accommodation in Bosanska Krupa
Bosanska Krupa offers travelers a combination of river landscapes, outdoor activities and culture. The Una and Krušnica rivers shape the scenery in several places, while the gallery collection, artists’ colony and historic buildings add their own distinctive touches. When planning your stay, it is worth deciding first whether you want to focus on walks, water activities or cultural attractions. This can help you consider what matters most to your stay when searching for a hotel in Bosanska Krupa.
River Landscapes and Outdoor Activities
At SRC “Ada,” the Unadžik branch joins the Krušnica, forming a large river island. The Una’s river islands, known as the Ade, are also a specific place to visit by the water: there are benches and places to swim. Water conditions can vary by season. In Bosanska Krupa, wooden bridges connect the banks of the Una with its river islands, making riverside walks possible.
The Šujnovac excursion area is about 2 km from the town center. A forest path with benches runs through the woods, with gentle ascents and descents. The path offers an alternative to walks by the river islands; trail conditions may change. The area around the Krušnica spring is also suitable for relaxation, excursions, walks and spending time in nature.
A rafting route on the Una passes through rapids, waterfalls and calmer stretches of river. Operations and water conditions can vary by season; check current conditions before planning this activity. A zipline and an adrenaline bridge cross the Una and its canyon at a great height, offering views of the landscape. Trips on the traditional boats of the Unski lađari let you experience the Una from the perspective of the region’s former residents. Check availability locally. The tradition of the Unski lađari dates back to 1977.
Fishing is another option on the rivers: the Una and Krušnica are rich in fish and offer considerable opportunities for fishing tourism. In the “BUK” fishing area, spinning and fly fishing with artificial lures are practiced. The principle of “Catch and Release” applies there; local regulations may also apply.
Art, History and Cultural Sites
The Gradska galerija Bosanska Krupa hosts exhibitions and preserves material of artistic or historical value as part of the cultural heritage. Its permanent collection includes the Boško Karanović Foundation, with 110 prints. In March 2011, these prints were declared national property and a monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The International Artists’ Colony Krušnica reached its 56th edition in 2026. It brings together artists from different generations and working in different forms of artistic expression. The Museum – Memorial House of Reis Džemaludin ef. Čaušević displays photographs, original documents, books, personal belongings and archival material.
Stari grad Jezerski has been a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2003. Pset Fortress is an ancient fortress on a steep cliff. The sites offer distinct experiences, ranging from art and collections to historic buildings.
The Gradska džamija Bosanska Otoka stands on an island in the Una; two wooden bridges connect it to the other parts of Bosanska Otoka. A path beside the mosque leads to several Una islands with sandy beaches, waterfalls and rapids.
