Bjerregård between the North Sea and Ringkøbing Fjord
Accommodation in Bjerregård
Bjerregård lies in the southern part of the narrow peninsula between the North Sea and Ringkøbing Fjord. This location provides a clear geographical framework for planning your trip: the sea and the fjord are the two main reference points, while the area is also distinguished by its own coastal landscape, forest and heath. If you are looking for a hotel in Bjerregård, you are choosing a destination between two bodies of water. Closer impressions range from the dynamic coastline to art in a historic farmstead.
Between the North Sea, fjord and dynamic coastline
The coast in front of Bjerregård is narrow and dynamic. It drops steeply just beyond the low-water line; the sea off Bjerregård is wild and unpredictable. The geographical location and the coastline describe two aspects: the peninsula places Bjerregård between the North Sea and the fjord; the steep drop beyond the low-water line shapes the immediate coastal experience. If you plan to spend time by the water, take these features into account. Surf spots can be found around Ringkøbing Fjord and towards the North Sea coast near Bjerregård.
Forest and a described walk
Bjerregård also has a distinctive natural side away from the open coast. A small forest with unusually tall mountain pines lies near the holiday homes. The tall trees form a shelterbelt, protecting the trees behind them from wind and weather. The Naturrum in the forest offers space for play and activities.
A walking description published by Dansk Vandrelaug in October 2025 leads through a small plantation towards the beach, along the sea for a while and back across the heath; it also includes a detour to Bjerregård Havn. The route gives you a concrete idea of what a described walk through Bjerregård’s landscape involves: in this particular route description, the plantation, coast, heath and harbour are all part of one walk. The nature experiences differ in form: the walking description links landscape features in a route; the Naturrum is a place in the forest for play and activities.
At Bjerregård Havn Shelterplads, there is a service building with toilets, water and showers. The facility is open seasonally.
Art at Klitgård and in the plantation
Galleri Skippergården offers a cultural perspective on local themes: its paintings and prints are inspired by the beach, harbour, dunes and other experiences of nature. Ceramics, turned woodwork and watercolours by other artists are also on display. Alongside painting and printmaking, visitors can therefore see other materials and artistic forms. Galleri Skippergården is housed in a Klitgård dating from 1877, while also showcasing the historic farmstead.
The sculpture trail in Bjerregård Plantage was inaugurated on 20 June 2020. Unlike the gallery, which is housed in a historic farmstead, the trail is associated with a plantation; in Bjerregård, nature and art are therefore connected in two different settings.
