Videbæk Municipality: Discover art and walking trails
Accommodation in Videbæk Municipality
Art and walking trails are key features of Videbæk. During your stay, you can choose between art venues, artworks around town and routes with different lengths and landscape features. The Arne Haugen Sørensen Museum and the neighbouring Vestjyllands Kunstpavillon form a shared art hub; the trails range from a stream and an arboretum to the protected heathland of Herborg Bakker.
Art by the lake: museum and art pavilion
The Arne Haugen Sørensen Museum is located by the lake at the western end of Videbæk Lystanlæg. It is an extension, built in 2017, of the Vestjyllands Kunstpavillon, which dates from 2012; the pavilion is right next to the museum. The museum’s collection includes paintings, watercolours, prints, sculptures, ceramics and models for altarpieces. The variety of formats gives the collection a broad thematic and artistic range, from works on paper to three-dimensional pieces.
Vestjyllands Kunstpavillon exhibits contemporary art by Danish and international artists. This means two art venues with different focuses sit right next to each other: the museum’s collection and the pavilion’s contemporary art. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm; check the opening hours before your visit.
Walking trails with different highlights
The trail lengths make for a clear comparison: Naturstien in Videbæk is 8.6 kilometres long, making it longer than the 3.3-kilometre Dog Walking Route. Naturstien follows a boardwalk along the Videbæk Bæk stream and passes through the arboretum. The route thus combines a path by the stream with a section through the arboretum.
The Dog Walking Route includes a fenced dog park where dogs can run freely. It also passes through Videbæk’s disc golf area. These features set it apart from Naturstien, which focuses on the stream and the arboretum. The Herborg Bakker route is 4.1 kilometres long. Herborg Bakker is a protected heathland. On the “Den gamle bane” route, the path follows an old paved track before continuing along a gravel path through Herborg Bakker.
