Landscape around Slapnica

The Slapnica Valley has been legally protected as a significant landscape since 1964. The Slapnica stream rises in the northernmost part of the Municipality of Krašić, below Gornja Vas. Near Krašić, Slapnica is designated as a landscape of special significance within Žumberak–Samoborsko gorje Nature Park. The protected valley, the specifically identified source of the stream and the designated landscape within the nature park therefore provide distinct reference points for planning a trip.

Getting there

Krašić is easily reached from Zagreb via the old Karlovac road towards Jastrebarsko. Jastrebarsko is 19 kilometres away. The road connection and distance provide two specific reference points for planning your journey.

Church, memorial collection and Stepinčevo

The Parish Church of the Holy Trinity in Krašić was first mentioned in 1334. In the parish house in Krašić, the Spomen dom contains a collection of objects and personal belongings used by Blessed Alojzije Stepinac. The two sites offer different points of interest: the church is associated with an early historical date, while the Spomen dom features objects from Stepinac’s personal use. The “Dolinom kardinala” athletics race is held every year in Krašić, traditionally in early May, in honour of Blessed Alojzije Stepinac’s birthday on 8 May. The exact date may vary. The route is listed as 23.4 kilometres and passes the birthplaces of Croatian cardinals and bishops. Check the current course route before making plans.
