Municipality of Dubravica: Nature, History and Cultural Heritage
Accommodation in Municipality of Dubravica
Cret Dubravica is one of the last places in Croatia where round-leaved sundew grows. This makes a distinct botanical feature part of the profile of the Municipality of Dubravica. To the west, the River Sutla forms the boundary of Dubravica and, at the same time, the state border with Slovenia. The plant species found here and the border line offer two different perspectives on the area: one through its nature, the other through its location.
Sacred buildings and historical connections
In Rozga, the Church of St. Anne, the parish rectory and the Chapel of Our Lady of Lušačka are listed as immovable cultural heritage. A former parish church of St. Anne stood on Vinsko brdo. It was consecrated on 5 August 1691 and later destroyed by fire. The former church on Vinsko brdo should be distinguished from the Church of St. Anne listed in Rozga; this keeps the historical site and the listed building clearly separate.
Pavao Stoos was born on 10 December 1806 in Dubravica, in the parish of Rozga near Zaprešić, and celebrated his first Mass at the Church of St. Anne in Rozga. His biography is thus connected with two places: Dubravica as his birthplace and Rozga as the site of his first Mass.
The Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes in Lugarski brijeg was consecrated on 12 August 1934. It should be distinguished from the Chapel of Our Lady of Lušačka in Rozga.
Traditional houses and cycling route
A significant number of old, traditional wooden houses, known as hiže, have survived in Dubravica to this day. They are among the municipality’s notable cultural heritage. Many are in poor condition due to their age and lack of maintenance. The local architectural heritage encompasses both individually named sacred buildings and the wider collection of hiže.
The brown cycling route runs from Kupljenovo via Luka, Dubravica, Marija Gorica and Pušća through villages with preserved traditional architecture to the Sutla Valley. Along the route, Dubravica lies between Luka and Marija Gorica; the Sutla Valley is named as a further destination. Unlike individual buildings, the route passes through several places, bringing the architecture of the villages into focus as a connected theme.
Another perspective on Zagreb County

In Velika Gorica, the Museum of the Turopolje region offers insights into life in Turopolje through its ethnographic, cultural-historical, archaeological and art-history collections. Samobor offers a culinary perspective: its traditional specialities include Muštarda and Bermet; Samoborske kremšnite are also among the city’s specialities.
