When planning a stay in Oberperfuss, you can choose between several highlights: at Rangger Köpfl, stories, disc golf and mountain activities take centre stage; the parish church and museum explore cultural history surrounding Peter Anich. When planning your time, it helps to distinguish between a story-based trail, hiking destinations, winter activities and cultural sites.

Trails and activities at Rangger Köpfl

The legends trail at Rangger Köpfl has 21 stops featuring stories by primary school pupils from Oberperfuss. Each stop has an information board, and five stops are puzzle stations. The content may be updated seasonally. This makes the trail a combination of outdoor exercise and stops for reading and solving puzzles. If you are looking for a route with a storytelling focus, this sequence of stops offers a clearly defined option.

Rangger Köpfl also has a disc golf course with 18 holes. This gives you a different activity to choose from alongside the stories trail. The two activities appeal to different interests, and you do not need to think of them as parts of the same tour.

In summer, scenic hiking trails lead from the Bergbahnen Oberperfuss area to the Rosskogelhütte, Rosskogel, Peter-Anich-Hütte and Hundstalsee. These four named destinations give you concrete points to consider when planning. Bear in mind that conditions can vary along the individual routes.

Mountain lifts, road access and winter planning

The Peter-Anich I eight-person gondola runs from the valley station in Oberperfuss to the Stiglreith panorama restaurant. From there, the Peter-Anich II eight-person gondola continues to Sulzstich, at an altitude of around 1,800 metres. Timetables vary by season, so check the current schedule before travelling. The panoramic road to Stiglreith can only be reached via Oberperfuss. If you plan to use this road, take this access route into account.

In winter, you can go tobogganing and snowshoe hiking at Rangger Köpfl. Eight of the ten kilometres of the toboggan run are lit; snowshoe hiking is also available. As winter information is seasonal, check current conditions and operations before setting out.

Church, museum and chapels

A sundial by Peter Anich is located on the south exterior wall of Oberperfuss Parish Church. During renovation work in 1970, vault paintings by Franz Altmutter were uncovered inside the church. The parish church therefore brings together an exterior feature and a historical discovery from its interior.

The Anich-Hueber Museum in Oberperfuss provides information about the work and lives of Peter Anich and Blasius Hueber. Peter Anich is thus associated both with the sundial at the church and with one of the museum’s subjects. According to the municipality, the museum is open by appointment only; check in advance whether this still applies to your visit.

Another way to explore the village on foot is the Chapel Walk in Oberperfuss – Village Loop. It follows quiet, idyllic paths through the village to numerous chapels, some of which have been renovated. Unlike the named destinations of the summer hiking trails, this walk focuses on the chapels and the route through Oberperfuss. This gives you the option of choosing between mountain destinations and a village walk with a cultural focus.
