Unterperfuss offers attractions for a range of travel interests: the Inn Cycle Path runs right past the village, the Way of St. James passes through the municipal area, and there is also the Branger brewery inn and a number of historical features.

Cycling and Pilgrimage Routes Around Unterperfuss

The Inn Cycle Path runs right past Unterperfuss. It is flat and leads either towards the Upper Inn Valley or along the Inn towards Innsbruck. If you include the cycle path in your travel plans, you can choose the direction of your tour based on your destination. The Way of St. James also passes through the municipal area, giving the village a connection to a pilgrimage route.

A pedestrian bridge over the Inn connects Unterperfuss with Zirl. The nearby Karwendel Nature Reserve is just a short distance away via the bridge for hikers, cyclists and mountain bikers. This gives you two different options to consider when planning: a flat cycle route with named destinations, and a natural area that is also accessible to hikers and mountain bikers.

Brewery Inn and Event Days

The Branger brewery inn serves traditional cuisine and home-brewed beer. Branger Bräu is naturally cloudy and brewed in the inn’s own brewery. On Fridays and Saturdays, guests of all ages celebrate, dance and drink together at the Branger. If you plan to include one of these evenings in your trip, check the date before you travel. The cuisine, home-brewed beer and stated event schedule offer several points to consider when choosing your destination based on what it has to offer locally.

Church, Fountain and Sundial

The branch church of St. Catherine originated as a chapel whose consecration in 1648 is documented in historical records. The church was built in 1761 under Franz Singer in the Late Baroque style. The two dates refer to different stages: the consecration of the earlier chapel and the subsequent construction of the church.

The branch church, its former cemetery and the village fountain are protected by a preservation order. Another specific detail of local history can be found at the Brangerhof, owned by the Hörtnagl family: Peter Anich’s sundial, with zodiac signs and a gnomon. The historical connection thus encompasses both architectural history and named objects in the village. The gnomon casts the shadow used to tell the time.

Landscape and Nature

The area around Unterperfuss consists mainly of meadows and fields. Another natural feature is the Eichen an der Melach natural monument, which lies within the municipal areas of Kematen and Unterperfuss. A 2019 environmental report by the State of Tyrol describes this protected site. Meadows and fields thus shape the surroundings of the village, while the oaks by the Melach are a specific natural landmark spanning both municipal areas.
