Presinge combines a rural character with notable historical landmarks. Cultivated fields and forests, large herds of cattle and wild animals are part of the area, as are agriculture and winegrowing, which continue to shape the village. If you’re looking for a hotel for a stay in Presinge, you can first consider whether landscape, paths or local history are especially important for your trip.

Landscape and Hiking Trails

The hamlet of L’Avenir also reflects the area’s rural character: it is surrounded by trees and meadows. The Les Faverges nature reserve can be explored via the various paths that border it. A hiking route connects Gy and Presinge through forests and heads towards the Prés de Villette nature reserve. Almost three-quarters of this hike passes through forest. The route information thus offers different points of reference, without every route following the same course.

For further orientation, there is the “Seymaz régions” hiking map. It covers seven municipalities: Choulex, Gy, Jussy, Meinier, Presinge, Puplinge and Vandoeuvres. Presinge is therefore part of a larger hiking-map area. The map is a practical starting point if you’d like to plan hikes beyond the village; for the Gy–Presinge route, the forest section and direction towards Prés de Villette are described in particular.

Local History and Saint-Félix

The hamlet of Cara already existed in Celtic times and today belongs to the municipality of Presinge. Cara formed a promontory along the road from Annemasse to Thonon. This historical context adds an older chapter of local history to the picture of today’s landscape.

Saint-Félix Church, together with the presbytery, stands on an esplanade slightly above the Grand-Rue and is a prominent feature of the village. The first mention of the Saint-Félix sanctuary dates from 1304; since 1420, the church of Presinge has been under the authority of the Cathedral Chapter of Geneva. There is also a notable architectural detail: the choir is one of the few of its type in the canton to have retained its original appearance.

The Mosaïque à Petit-Cara is also part of the village’s history. In the Canton of Geneva, only the mosaic discovered beneath Geneva Cathedral is considered equally well preserved. The Mosaïque à Petit-Cara is currently located beneath the southern gallery of the manor house. The church, choir and mosaic each represent different aspects of Presinge’s cultural heritage.

Horse Riding and Events

The Manège et Poney Club de Presinge offers riding activities for all levels and for children aged two and over. The club is open year-round; pony taster sessions take place on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 5 pm. As times may vary, check them before your visit.

The Tour de Presinge is a running competition held on the third Sunday in March. Another cultural event was the Théâtre en Campagne festival: its fifth edition returned to Presinge from 5 to 7 June 2026. The festival was aimed at audiences of all kinds and combined theatre with playful formats and original performances. The dates given refer to this past edition.

Food and Getting There

Presinge has two restaurants. The Domaine de l’Abbaye in Presinge is associated with organic farming and farm markets. Market dates may change; check the latest information before planning a visit.

Presinge is served by TPG bus routes 37 and 39, as well as the tpgflex service. If you’re planning to use these services to get there, check the timetables before travelling. This way, you can consider the rural, cultural and practical aspects of a stay in Presinge separately when planning your trip.
